Well I figured out why the right side went away. Last night when I moved my mount back I put a screw right through the transducer wire. I stripped it back and it its just normal wires, I think I can solider it back. I'd hate to think less than a week old and have to replace the ducer. Has anyone had to fix the ducer wire on one of these? I've fixed several on lower shelf finders without issue. I don't want to burn up the head over a ducer but I don't want to buy one if I can fix this one.

I think my mount is in the right place now because the left side showed good. Had this not happened I think I would have gotten some use out of it.

    What do yall think?

2 important issues when splicing xducer cables ...

RFI bleed point and water intrusion point ...

The RFI bleed point issue can be minimized some by trying to keep the splice away from any other 12v power ...

The water intrusion point is more serious ...because if water gets in the splice and shorts out a channel wire ...it could also fry the transmitter ...

You might think about this option if the splice is above the water line ...

Man I just can't win on this thing.

It's at the water line. May call humminbird and see if they will fix it. Hate to risk warranty over fixing it myself. Or chasing my other issues with this in the back of my mind as a potential problem.

That's probably best, even tho you may have repaired the wire. You would still be wondering if the unit was bad, or was it the transducer. Now you can start fresh and we'll get the thing figured out.

I'd just like to have images like I see on here. I almost bought a Helix, but I bellied up and bought a 999. So far I've been disappointed but I realize my set up wasn't right at the start but I believe it is now. Hopefully the new ducer will be in on Friday and I'll have new images on Saturday.

I'm a firm believer that if there is a problem with the unit, and you'll know after you get the new transducer, that H'bird will make it right for you and you'll get those pics.

Where are you from? Take your unit and hook it up to someone elses transducer and see if its your unit? I live in dewitt arkansas. You can bring it to my house if your close.

I may take you up on that if the new transducer doesn't make a difference.
