I would spend extra $100 on the upgrade even if available. Not much difference in my opinion.

Is the Helix SI unit eligible for the transducer upgrade and if so has anyone upgraded and was it worth it? Have one on order and weighing options. Thanks in advance

I don't think that the Transducer Exchange Program goes by the unit model, so I would expect that you new HELIX 5 SI-GPS owners could trade up to the HDSi transducer if that is waht you want to do.
Yes, the box will have a sheet of paper explaining the transducer exchange program

What's the difference in the duceers?
The Helix comes stock with the XNT 9 SI 180 T ...
*83kHz/200kHz 2d - 455kHz SI/DI ...
The upgrade XHS 9 HDSI 180 T ...
*83kHz/200kHz 2d - 455kHz/800kHz SI/DI ...
The Helix cannot utilize the 800kHz frequency capability of the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T ...but the longer SI piezoes will garner somewhat better SI/DI images (in the 455kHz frequency) ...simply because longer piezoes create a thinner beam which renders better detail ...
