Bow or console? How are you fishing?

I fish from the bow but the screen is at the back of the boat. I have a small jon boat and can see it from anywhere. it is mounted on a ram mount and I just turn the screen to wherever I am sitting at the time.

My vote would be for DI ... given a head to head comparison.

Main reason being that the DI "picture image" is going to tell you a lot more about what's under you, than the best 2d "finger painting" image could ever hope to show.

Being able to look at your screen and see images like these :

    Name: Screen002.jpg
Views: 2755
Size: 134.8 KB

    Name: 005.jpg
Views: 1832
Size: 64.7 KB

... and know what they are the instance they appear on the screen, and not have to guess or spend a lot of time going through the learning curve of interpreting the shapes & colors of the blobs that 2d produces ... is just a no-brainer IMHO.

If moving I would say DI, but sitting still it would probably be 2D or a split screen

I don't know about you, ibmack ... but, if it was me, I'd put the SI/DI on blue palette and run the DI on split screen and leave the 2d turned off.

That 2d overlay just seems to gob up the DI screen to the point of chaos & confusion.

    Just sayin
