    Default Side Imaging question

I just installed a Helix 5 SI Gps on my Bass Tracker 175TX. I love it for the most part but I have a few questions. When using side imaging, there is some clutter underneath the left side of the boat. I looked through several pictures on the sonar quiz sub-forum and almost all of the pictures have this same line of clutter on the left side. Could someone please explain this to me. My second question, I thought I had read that side imaging would give you a clear picture even running on plane. I have no useable picture while on plane. The depthfinder still gives me accurate depths but no readable picture. Do I need to turn up the chart speed or have I installed the transducer incorrectly? Thank you for your help.

Yes....what genec says is true. No good screens at high speed.

If you are referring to the interference just to the left of the center line on your display, this might be the lower unit on outboard(assuming you have transducer on right side of transom). You can verify by raising the lower unit while running the tm and see if that noise disappears

Can you post pix of your xducer install ... Including the area to the left and right of the xducer ...??

Any xducer installation must have clean bubble-free water flowing across the face of the xducer at all times ...

Any air that gets between the water and the xducer will make the unit loose bottom and act erratically ...

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Hey. On my side scan, my transducer is mounted on the right side of my motor, and if I do not tilt my motor a little bit, it interferes with the view I get on the left side. I have a 22' Epress and the back end sits low in the water. You might experiment with your tilt and see if it helps.
