*Beam Frequency 200kHz ...unless you want to see echoes from farther than directly under the boat ...then use 83kHz or 200kHz/83kHz ...(you can set the "Transducer Select" menu under the Sonar tab to "Dual Beam" to eliminate the 2d pixelation issue but you won't have SI or DI images until you set it back to "SideScan")...
*Switchfire Clear for depth less than 10ft ... and adjust Sensitivity up to an acceptable amount of clutter on the screen ...
*Switchfire Max for depth more than 10ft ... and adjust Sensitivity down to an acceptable amount of clutter on the screen ...
*Noise filter under Sonar tab to "Off" unless there is RFI showing on the display ...
*Max Depth under Sonar tab to 10ft deeper than any water you may be in ...
*SI Sensitivity up to brighten screen ...
*SI Sensitivity down to darken screen ...
*SI Contrast 10-12 ...adjust up to make structure echoes more visable ...
*SI Sharpness Off ... adjust up to make fish echoes more visable ...
*Chart Speed higher for 2d ... Match boat speed for SI/DI ... (No..there is no separate Chart Speed for each at the same time ... Darnit!!!...)...
*Palette choice to suit your eyes ... Blue for cloudy days - Green or Inverse for sunny days ...
Like Gene said ... Shorter "SI Range" ... 50-70ft (sometimes less for enlarging structure images of stuff closer to the boat)...
Put a waypoint on anything that looks out of place in the SI image ... And then re-position the boat to scan that waypoint closer to the boat ...
