what to do
I have a friend who owes me and has offered to sell me his new in the box Lowerance HDS 9 touchscreen with structure scan for $1,000. The problem is that I have a Terrova and was saving for the Link and a bird since I mostly troll. There is no way to "link" the Link with a Lowerance is there...

If that's the only way you'll ever get the money owed to you .... what you could consider doing is accepting the offer, then placing it on the Personal Classified forum at that price (+s/h charges). You'll get your money back and the debt will be settled (and the friendship will be saved).
As I understand it ... a HDS-9 Touch (gen 2) SS w/transducer retails for around $2K, and can be found on eBay for around $1700 .... so, even if you don't sell it here, you may well be able to sell it thru a online venue (and maybe even for a slightly higher amount).
