It's really not an issue. I did a lot of research before buying an si unit for a kayak. There was a lot of bad info out there about it not working correctly on a kayak. I think it works great in a kayak....just need to match up the chart speed with the speed of the yak. It's funny that the paddle strokes don't show when I am using 800 kHz.
