    Default 455 vs 800khz electrical noise HDS8

Most folks say to use 800khz in the shallow water but I get trolling motor noise on the screen in 800 but not 455. I run a tiller boat so unit and motor are at back of boat, motor is a minn kota vantage 24v with batterys up front and wireing ran on oppisite side as HDS8 and SS box. 12v is supplied by the cranking battery which is at the back of the boat. Any suggestions or thoughts, thanks.

I use the 455 99.5% of the time, it tells me all I need to know. If it were me I would leave it on 455 and go fish! MK has some ferrite rings, that you could install, that might help. The rings I am talking about came with my Ipilot link. Sorry don't have a part# for them.

That ferrite thing is foreign to me, where would you put it? You can see it at top of the screen and of course the lower portion the TM is off or on 455. Despite what the screen shows the lines are only on 800khz, must have just switched back to 455

Can you remove the xducer from its mount and hang it in the water farther away from the TM ...??

This may tell us if the RF is getting in thru the xducer or in some of the other wiring of the unit...

RF can infiltrate into the unit by a few possible paths...:

    *Xducer cable
    *Power cable
    *Head unit itself
    *Ethernet cable

We have to determine which path your RF is getting into the unit before we know which cable to put the ferrite core on...

Does any of the power/ducer wiring run parallel for a short bit, if so, try running them at 90*
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Rick, ill try a couple things like maybe running the motor out of the water and such when I get a chance. Maybe even try it in dry dock. Jim, the cables for the unit itself run together but not so for the trolling motor if that is what you mean.
