i will keep playing with the Garmin for a while, but either the Lowrance 9 or the Garmin 840 is going on ebay eventually.

note on the Garmin SI pics, the speed which they were taken, this unit has amazing power, the lowrance fades out at 6 mph or so,
also, note on the Garmin the distances the SI were taken, 100 ' is no problem at all for this thing, 150 , 200' no problem accept so much data is displayed it becomes useless on an 8" screen

Can the chirp be turned off on the garmin si ? And if so could you post some pictures at the same range, showing both ?
I'm more interested in how the chirp affects the si, more than the di comparison because of the shallow water that I fish in , I can't see there being much difference .But si at longer ranges and (360) could be interesting

Bett,I think you should sell both the lowrance and garmin and get the onix(with the onix you can scan out real far and activate the zoom box anywere on the screen while your still scanning everything that passes through the zoom box will be magnified.

Onix would be optimal but in reality, i don't own both of these , one must go to pay for the other

I don't see anything in the Onix images that would make want to sell my Lowrances and buy one. Nice images, yes, superior..........not IMO.
