I'd look at the Lowrance Elite 4 series. https://www.google.com/#q=lowrance+elite+4

You might also want to look at eBay sales : http://www.ebay.com/bhp/lowrance-gps-fishfinder-elite-4

A lot depends on what you want the unit to show you on the screen, as to which model has those features.

Lowrance has good units if you are wanting downscan only. You would be hard pressed to get something with a chartplotter included.

I just installed the elite 4 hdi for my console. Mainly got it to use for when I'm going down the lake to see depths etc without turning motor off and dropping my tm and using one on front

Not with the Elite 4 series ... but I have a Elite 5 DSI. (down scan only/map/GPS) Don't really miss 2d broadband sonar, since the downscan images are picture quality ... so no need for "interpretation" skills.

I would have said keep your eye on the Personal Classifieds, but I didn't see any downscan units for sale on there.

When you figure out which unit/units you're looking to buy ... check with the member known as "Brian@BBGMarine" before you make a purchase. As I understand it, he can usually beat the prices of most online vendors.

The Elite 4DSI Combo and the Elite 4 HDI units have chartplotter capabilities.

Cabela's even has the Elite 4DSI with map chip for less than $300 http://www.cabelas.com/product/LOWRA...w&gclsrc=aw.ds
