I do think the hb is a little brighter
I just feel the lack of actual , easily usable , consistent down image on the hb left a bad taste I'm my mouth.
cost? well you don't know what I paid but the unit with di, the lowrance, was not that much more.
plus my bad case of digititus caused by pushing the hb buttons over and over was the final thing that pushed me to better technology.
Why did you buy a SI unit if you really wanted a DI unit.....Then complain because the DI is not as good as a DI unit. The 998 is optimized for SI. You used to have the best SI unit. You should have saved a little more money and added a 858 HD DI unit that you could network with the 998.

Sounds like an improper install to me.

What I have found is that when people can't win a debate based on facts.....They start throwing around BS and personal attacks.

bought it because it is suppose to work, what more need i say?
If you buy a car with certain features, you expect them to work dont you?
    I certainly do
I may put a HB up front, 2d, DI, eventually, it appears their dedicated DI units work well
