Had my E5DSI on the water for the first time last Sunday.... Saw everything advertised.... I remember reading that someone found out how to get the color screen.... I used sepia (sp?) and it worked great... took the information I learned from the E5DSI thread on this site (all 600+ entries) and put it to use on the water... saved me hours of OJT !!!! Looking forward to using it more and learning more..... I paid $399 for the unit and $115 for the Fishing Hot Spots card - another $6 for the micro SD card...... no buyers remorse on my end.... IMHO
I took mine to a different lake tonight and it was like a whole different unit. Ill post the screen shot when I get them downloaded.

I got one good image out of many dozens of attempts. on one lowrance hds7 I got excellent images every time.
id your 998 results compare with the 998 shot by Kosmo?[/QUOTE]ccc
There's no way imo, that a Di from si can be compared as apples to apples with a dedicated Di unit.but that being said, i still don't understand your statement of false advertising. Using the 455khz on a humminbird 998 does give a true 180° of coverage.while were talking about the du from si Im going to also say this.when i get the Di set to ny liking i adjust it very little going from one place to another just depends on bottom hardness... i think that this is the picture you are refuring to for your false advertising statement.here is a picture that i took that i think compares.i did have the 2d setting turned up to high but Im sure that i could do better![]()
Here's another picture. I've got many pictures but it all the same thing.i run my narrow beam on 2d and 455khz on si/Di..if i see it on the 2d i see it on Di..i don't use my unit in real deep water to much maybe there's more issues there i don't no..![]()
That elite 5 that yell have been talking about is and apples to apples comparison to my 597hd/Di. Im not going to post pictures but i have not seen pictures posted on this forum that come close to the quality of the 597hd
1st, what ff did you use on these images? they are fantastic.
here is my only complaint in this post:
SI units are being sold as SI with DI.
I just got off the lake. my si found some new brush piles. I tried to see what was really there to gauge as to spend time fishing them, my 998c (billed as having excellent DI capabilities) showed not much. I know there are trees there.
If it's just my poor skills then so be it, but the lowrance 7 showed plenty for me
if you wanted a good, solo di unit, what would you get ? I'm about to spend nearly 600 bucks on a raymarine dragonfly, but I haven't got it yet. thanks
