yes.the transducer is mounted on the strolling motor rotated 60° and hooked to my 998 hd then Etherneted to my 998 non hd at the console.the transducer can be switched by the Ethernet settings.

i think I'll try this with my 597hd/Di unit.with my transducer setup it won't be hard to rotate it 45°.the only thing that Im un sure of is how he maintained his bottom depth with the transducer rotated.in the setup that Im using with the 998s ,Im getting depth readings from a second transducer .
Maybe a second 2d transducer in the hull? Or maybe he just isnt
Maybe Vic will come on soon and enlighten us with how his friend is obtaining depth with the DI xducer rotated 45°...
My guess is that the unit is still getting depth from the same beam ...but at inaccurate readings...
If this is the case...then the unit might have difficultly in ping sequence or ping frequency...
A second shoot thru hull xducer is unlikely because I don't think HB makes a Y cable for the dedicated DI xducer's...
We shall have to discuss this more when we have more info from Vic...

I did this a lot with my 570 DI and 385 DI. I used triple hinge for inclining the transducer. With normal transducer installation ( the second picture) one can see down imaging only, but with rotated transducer I got the same down imaging plus I could see something else aside of the boat.
Rickie is right, depth readings cannot be correct, but I always keep depth lines on, and quite easily see that the depth is 13 feet on these screenshots.

Now I just need cane pole to build an auto rotate assembly to allow a say 45 or 50 degree tilt then back to level at the turn of a dial lol. This has really got my brain churning
You got that right,
my solution, selling 998 hd, bought Lowrance hds 9 touch.
GAME OVER

It's more like ..."what can I make it do?"
