I'm moving slowly (spider riggin) using the SI at the TM 99.99% of the fishing day at 0.1-0.6mph...because it gives me more area coverage of the bottom..(even directly under the xducer)...
The only advantage of DI instead of SI at the TM would the ability of DI to pick apart the structure directly under the xducer to look for fish inside the structure....
The only technology more suited for vertical fishing stationary would be the cone-shaped 2d beams....
Also..there are countless users who are very satisfied with SI on the TM...even when turning...

IMHO..there are numerous advantages to having all 3 technologies (2d/DI/SI) at both (or either) station (bow or console)...

I watched a bunch of videos and did a bunch of reading prior to buying, but somehow I missed that one. That is some excellent stuff right there. I like how, even with the motor turned, you can effectively interpret the returns. Looks like I just need to wait until next season to get a second stand along SI unit. Like I mentioned earlier, with all the upgrades I've made this year, I had to draw the line somewhere, and the 596 was it. I will certainly be investing in another SI unit, or at least get a second transducer/power setup in the near future.
