lcookie how did you get your gps map on the 998 to show those colors like that? I've got the platinum card in my 997 and the map lines are so hard to see. The card is def. Not worth the $200 buks I spent on it. But I proably don't have it set up proper. Although I've spent countless hours messing around with it. And don't get me started on the 3d or underwater views. I gave up on that a while back.

He is running Lakemaster, you are running Navionics.

I have both the navionics and lakemaster cards for my 997 and both have their pros and cons. The lakemaster has more detail and map options while the navionics has more lakes. I have not updated my navionics via the website yet so i don't know how much more detail i will get. The lakemaster will have 1 foot depths vs the navionics. Getting the navionics platinum is not worth the extra money imho. I would just stick with the one below it. I think the pro version.

As for the actual si vs di units, the di units will have a dedicated element for that function while the si units will use 2 beams and rotate and combine them to show down imaging. The di unit will have a slightly better picture with less user input from my personal experience when i messed with my friend's 597.

    ...and that's my 2 cents
