    Default Just a historic pic

I was out and about this weekend looking over some new water. I came across something that is more like a history lesson, but I thought it was cool. It looks to me like some sort of boarding dock.

    Any thoughts?

That is cool, maybe someone with more experience will chime in, definitely looks like a concrete structure.

Now that's a definite cewl find...

I agree.. Looks like some kind of boarding or loading dock...

Is this near a town that was flooded with the impoundment of the lake...??

Is the structure on the ledge of the channel...??

Yes, if you look at the DI image, the left of the picture continues to go up onto the bank. It is right on the channel ledge, with the structure that is in the channel appearing to be some sort of manmade seawall? That's my best guess. This river was used for shipping and transportation before the lake was built. There's not a town real close, but this particular reservoir was finished in the mid 60's, so I can assume that plenty has changed since then.

After looking at it, it kinda appears that the dock is on the ledge and a seawall or similiar was built in the actual river channel. On the river side of it, you can see what I think is a ladder, as well.

Sure looks like a Lock chamber to me. Where is it at?

I agree, it looks like one of the gates is still there. Using the range 95' as a scale I'd guess it's 40-45' wide and over 20' deep in the chamber.
