    Fished for Gators(Speckeled Trout),but caught this Reef Donkey(Jack Crevalle)on a D.O.A 5.5in. Glow C.A.L. Plastic tail w/rattle inserted,4/0 weedless hook.Very odd to catch one Waaaayyy inshore.Caught it off the bank.In a Bayou of all places.1st I thought Red,Next Tarpon(The Drag on my 5500c was screaming,but no jumps)and after a 30 to 45 min. fight on 12lb. mono w/20 lbFloro leader,he finally showed himself.

Yeah, those nasty things will sneak up on you this time of the year. My wife caught one about like yours on a spinnerbait looking for reds in the Empire end of the Buras Canal some 20-odd Aprils ago. That's about seven meandering miles from the Gulf. Talk about some fine entertainment (For me, not her!). :D

Strange for sure, but I guess they'll follow the food like everything else. Nice fish.
