Every blank brand is a little different in power and action ratings that’s why I always build a test rod on a blank to see how it performs before judgement. Every thing you add to a blank changes the deflection of the blank thus changing the feel of the action and power of the rod no different then build on or against the splin of the rod. Every guide you put on the blank is a point of movement your taking out. Witch in return stuffens the rod. Just because it feels one way doesn’t mean it will after it’s been built.

I’m working on a 7’6” 4pc fly rod and wondered if it would be to my advantage, having read the above, if I would retain a better light action with single foot guides or would the snake guides do the job about the same?
