Get an Engel bait cooler. I have the 19qt size and had a pound of bait in it this weekend. Only lost 5 in 92 degree weather. They stay lively too. Best thing I've bought for bait and I've had many!

Fishing is like pizza.......Even when it's not that good, it's still pretty good!

I don't have problems in the cooler months, but in the summer it's hard to keep minnows alive. In the winter, I use a box my dad built many years ago with window screening stapled to a wood frame. I just keep it tied up to a post in our dock and left in the water -- put a couple of pound of minnows in there last December and was still using them till late April when the water temps started coming up. I've tried dropping the box to lower depths to get to cooler water - but there isn't enough oxygen.

Have anyone used the minnomizer in their livewell before?? I am somewhat looking for something to keep the fish alive in the livewell for the trip home,or say if I leave the lake then dont go straight home.I had some "aqua lung" tablets one time but never used em.They were supposed to release oxygen into the water.
HEY,,WATCH THAT YELLOW ROD
Look into the oxygenator. Been thinking of adding one to my front live well for bringing home my catch , I like to hit evergreen and Shelbyville. Sometimes I'm to tired to clean them at the ville 2-1/2 hr drive for me
I bought a Mino-Mizer several years ago. It is very quiet. Some minnows die but most stay alive. I connect Mino-Mizer to 12V converter while at the bait shop and let it run all day. Use Mino-Mizer in a Coleman 5210 cooler (10 qt) which fits perfect in my 184 Champ storage behind passenger seat.

Stated above that some minnows die but most stay alive. The water level in cooler is probably about half full, so maybe 5 to 6 quarts. Need room for mino-mizer to float. Pour contents of regular size Styrofoam bucket into cooler (bait shop water and 2 dozen minnows). I ran the 12V wires thru the compartments drain hole, which leads to battery area. I usually remove cooler from boat when pouring water and minnows into cooler, then put cooler back into compartment.

Heres what I'm adding to my boat. 12 Volt Aquarium Air Compressor Aquaculture Water Fish Aeration Hi Pressure Pump | eBay Plumbing it into both livewells, and the bait well. Then one extra line for the bait cooler. Does it all and can run 24 hours per day.

This is the aerator I have used for the last 3 years on my boat. I hooked it up direct to the boat and installed a switch for it and mounted under steering console out of the way. I am able to keep 2- 5 gal.buckets with minnows 1 in the front of the boat and 1 in the back of the boat, that way my wife and I don't have to get up out of our seats to get minnows. The buckets have foam liners in them to help in hot weather. So far we have been very pleased with it.

I bought a 12 volt aerator for a cooler that was supposed to supply oxygen to 25 gallons of water. I use it in a 48 quart cooler to keep my crappie alive for tournaments. I've had 7 crappie alive for 2 hours in 92 degree heat. When they hit the scales, they were VERY alive. I've used it on days with air temp up to 80 and kept 7-10 fish alive all day. I don't remember the brand name, but I bought it at a Bass Pro Shop. One of the best investments I've made. Cost me about $35
