Worms! Yes, Worms are live Bait!

When it gets chilly again, I don't care where those Worms go!

I don't have a box at all just a compost pile. I put ALL of my kitchen scraps in there, and there are nice fat worms year round.

I raise all I want with wan old 48 qt. ice chest. I even installed me a light in case. I use cowmanure, peatmoss and shreaded newspaper. I feed them cornmeal, oats, and eggshells. All blended together. Works great for me I cover with a burlap sack. I water twice a week with tapwater. I have a 2 gal. bucket with water in the shed. I let it stand for a couple of days to let the chlorine break out. Hope that helps a little.

I never thought about letting the Tap Water sit in the bucket for a week to get the Chlorine out. Great tip.

I use Rain water here. I sure hope there aint no Chlorine in that stuff!
I am going to move my worms to inside the Barn. I can feed and water and keep the Temp comfortable down there.

I used elec. heaters like the kind in a aquarium they work great when it's cold. Just stick em in the soil, but you have to keep adjusting the heat dial until you get it right.
I kept my worms under my cabin at the lake this way, I also kept a light on over the worm box, if the worms come out from under the damp burlap on top and see the light they go back under the burlap, and don't escape.
Cornmill is all I fed my worms also. also you have keep to your eye on them if you are using a small worm box for over crowding.
I used styfoam[sp] coolers with small holes in the bottom and a screen over the holes to keep them from going thru the holes.

It's been below freezing for a couple days here. I probably don't have ANY worms now.
When it gets warmer I'll start over again.
