a couple years ago i accidentally stumble upon a way to catch crickets.........every year like many others we have a vegetable garden, we plant many things with tomatoes being one of the favorites. When the tomato plants gets to be a foot tall or so I mulch around the bottom of them real good with pine needles......one reason is to keep rain from splashing mud up on the leaves causing early blight and it also holds moisture and keeps weeds down. After a couple weeks i can take a water hose and spray the pine needles and crickets scramble out from them like crazy.....sometimes 8-10 of them from each plant.....i usually have about 25 plants....there is always more during a dry spell, some plants hold more than others and it seems to be better later in the summer...this year im going to make some traps out of paper towel tubes and bait them with bread and lay next to a few plants at night
