confused on bedding

I am confused on bedding material. Some say just wet newspapers or say add peat. What is the right way to do it?

i've got shredded paper, a thin layer of dirt on top, and a moist towel on all of that to keep it from drying

I use a 50/50 mix of soaked (not dripping) peat moss and manure. The pH is perfect. Spray the top every few days depending upon the weather. Don't have any standing water or too much soaking with the sprayer - the worms will crawl up the sides to get away from it.
