New Humminbird Software Release

Here are the highlights:

For those of you with Humminbird units; new software was released for many of the 700 and 900 series units. Please check the Humminbird web site for your particular model (too many to list individually). Remember that you have to register your unit first to get the free software updates first. If you have problems when registering your unit, downloading or installing your software update; please call our Customer Resource folks at 1-800-633-1468.



Here is some of what the software update may include for your unit (varies according to unit model):

Improves Snapshot and Recording View. Stores screen snapshots as .png files, increasing speed and memory card capacity. Adds the current depth to sonar recordings. Creates a separate, rewindable current track during sonar recording playback. Decreases 200kHz reverberation noise in 83kHz beam. Improves Continuous Navigation Mode functionality. Improves SD card access speed. The current track is saved even if power is lost. Shows Snapshot Thumbnails on the chart. Declutters waypoints on the chart. Increases the Shaded Depth range to 180ft. Updated Navionics Presentation Library: Enables Portuguese seabed chart features. Improves Platinum 3D rendering. Improves InterLink stability. Disables Input Voltage Low warning. Disables WAAS integrity checking, which caused loss of GPS fix outside the US. Fixes various cosmetic and minor operational defects.

If it fixes the big Icon issue, I'll send you a big Grandpa kiss. Arrrrg!

I just wanted to say thanks. This is the only product that I own that actually has someone to go find their customers to let them know an update is available. I don't know if this is part of your job or if your doing it on your own but I do appreciate what your doing. Thanks for listening to our complaints and continuing to offer support even after you have our money.

Thanks for the update....just downloaded into my 797.

I installed it but didn't check it out to any detail.

By the way Humminbird, my wife likes the red and blue fish symbols. She wants you all to make the little ones red, the middle size ones white and the big ones blue. She might have something here.:)

I just wanted to revisit some of the latest software updates.

The latest software updates will save you tracks. It will save your daily track even if you have a power lose from your unit. So will know where you have traveled.

It will also declutter your waypoints. You will have large and small waypoints. By doing this if you have 10 waypoints in a cetain spot the waypoints will be a smaller icon. This is very good if you have 2 waypoint very close to each other. The waypoint will be a smaller icon.

Is this automatic or is there a provision in the menu for Icon size selection?

This is automatic. You will not have to do anything to your unit except update the software. One thing I failed to mention is to restore your factory defaults after every software update.

Please me. Make the boat Icon smaller.:)

Joby do you still have to use the old serial port to load the software from the computer to the unit? My laptop doesn't have a serial port and neither does my new desktop.

If you load it to an SD card, you just put the card in the unit, turn on the unit and Viola! done

Joby - What is the target date that the updates will work on a PC using Vista?

Didn't see the restore factory defaults maneuver in the user manual. I didn't do this after upgrade. Whats the prognosis here?

last update before this one screwed with my sensitivity on side scans still have some problems getting the right contrast picts are washing out. Oh also last update was supposed to give U pop clip of a selected site when U go back over it when/if U have the SD card in unit, don't do poop on my unit.............

Restore defaults from menu bar. I forgot how to. Don't understand why it is necessary. Bill Gates must be in charge of things.:)

That is what I have always been told when you update software restore your defaults. This is what our software guys tell us so we foward it on to the consumer.

Gentlemen, restore you defaults!
