I'm sorta-kinda thinking about a new rig- a 2072 Excel CC with a 150 4 stroke- way too much motor to pull crankbaits. A 24V, 80 lb. thrust Terrova would probably be enough to pull the boat around most of the day, but how much better is a 110 lb. Terrova? How much longer would it last at 1.5 mph in a big aluminum rig? Anybody have any ideas?
Yikess has an 80# Terrova on his aluminum deep V. We pull cranks with it for most of the day before we fire up the kicker motor. It really depends on your batteries
The 112 36v will pull it all day with deep cycle group 31s, with cart batts it would pull 2 days
Whatever you decide to do please go with a 60 inch shaft, that will make a big difference as well. These guys kill me with 45" shafts on 20 foot plus boat and want to pull cranks for 8 hours a day. I have an 24 volt 80# Ultrex and can pull cranks for 9 hours off two group 29 batteries in an 18' glass boat, most of which I contribute to that extra shaft length.
Makes a huge difference, I went with the shorter shaft with the Ulterra but I pull from the front, no doubt when we are both in the back of the boat. Long shaft more leverage!! Plus with a Terrova you can leave it up 6 or 8 inches and its easier to stow.Quote:

EZ Troller plate will get you down to speed with that 150 I would bet ! Not sure how much longer or better a 101 will be though. Just a comparison of big aluminium boats and set ups !

I have the 112, have not run it down pulling 1.8 for 10 hrs...we pulled into the wind for 6 hrs...motor was 3/4 charged..If it goes out today...I will order another one today
Those Everstart Maxx batteries are great until they aren't. I've been through three or four of them now. They'll do what they need to do for a year or two then won't take a charge. I think they may get knocked around too much.Quote:

I'm no engineer but I'll try this best I can, the higher voltage the motor the less amp draw for the same speed. Thus your going to get longer run time for the same speed pulled and longer battery longevity. So if buying new get the 36 and batteries to start and never regret it.
Pulled cranks today from 7 am till 4:30 and when I quit I felt? like I could have ran another 2 hrs. On the new group 29 batteries. 80# I was talking about...
