B and M Trolling Rods

I am a firm believer in Southern Crappie rods but it seems they have went up since the last time I bought a set. It will now be just as cheap for me to buy B and M's from either Bass Pro or Vann's in Brandon by the time I pay shipping cost. So my question is all I do is Spider Rig with light tackle...I never push heavy weight just a 1/16 oz jig with small split shot above it...Do i need the Black Uncle Buck or the Purple colored B and M which is a trolling series of the B and M. One of the things I loved about Southern Crappie was how sensitive the tip was...I can see the bite really good with them.

Get some BnM BGJP if all you do is troll with light weights. You will not be disappointed!

I use BnM Capps and Colemans for spider rigging. Some like the BnM BGJP's....I think the tips are more sensitive on the C and C's

If your happy with the southern's why would you change over a couple of bucks difference in price? In my opinion ( and I know B&M is a sponsor ) there is no comparison to their sensitivity and back bone on the southern's. And I have both.

You might want to look at the jenko slab city poles . They are a Great light weight rod and are very reasonably priced !!!

Bgjp's(bucks graphite jig pole),I just bought a some.I had 14ft southerns and just switched to the bgjp's.The bgjp's will beat the southerns when it's windy,both have a good sensitive tip.The southerns have more backbone and are tougher,harder to break though.

Hands down. BGJP’s for me.

The C&C poles are light but very whippy and they roll around when lifting a 1 lb fish. Gotta net anything over that.

The wind is what made me change, don't even try it with the 16s. I use the white poles and have been very very happy with them. If you can cherry pick your days poles don't matter much but on a tough day, whether it be wind or super lite bight or whatever, poles make a huge difference. Price to me has gotten to where it just don't matter, if it works for me and I'm confident in it then I will have it. May have to not take Ms. Tammy out a time or two but thats ok. We spend a lot of change in our sport, some of it not needed, buying what we want, but when you find a pole, a hook, a line, a rig, ect. ect. , you like you go with it. I learn so much each year and I hope and pray I have many more years.
Been on the phone texting with a friend I met fishing tournaments, helping him here, he helps me in the delta and we learn from each other. This aspect of what we do here and on the lake is my favorite part.
Best advice is to get in the boat with someone who has what you are looking at and fish with them, no better way to try em then to slime some up.
Good luck whatever you decide, have fun and post some pics of the slabs you catch with them.

Don't let $10-20 a pole keep you from getting what you want if you can swing it.
I started cheap when I was getting into trilling and then another set before I took Rees advise and got a set of white poles. I would be money ahead if I had bought them to start with.

Bucks graphite jig pole by bnm is the lightest pole tip and the absolute hands down best pole for the light weight single jig set up. i wouldn't go fishing without them

When Ress got his first set of white pole she invited me to fish with him. Couple of weeks later we were able to get together. He had 4 of those and 4 of another brand. We fished 2 ea Olof both rods. Was convinced I would not pay that much for a rod. At the end of the trip I ordered a set of the white poles. Granted we caught fish on both brands off poles but there was no comparison to the sensitivity and back Bone of the white poles. And I'm a diehard southern crappie fan. Still keep them in the boat but those white poles sold me on going ahead and spending the money on something that really works for you. When it comes to actually catching the fish they help me, I can fish 1/4oz all the way up to 3oz with these poles.

Exactly,that's why I settled with bgjp's.Fishing with someone else and seeing how they perform first hand makes a big difference.I chose the bgjp's because I don't use alot of weight 90%of the time when fishing.Hope to get in a boat with someone someday and try the white poles out[emoji4]

Bgjp's don't have the backbone,I kept hitting the back of my fish finders with fish when swinging them in[emoji23]Not use to not much backbone yet,but using light weight 90% of the time is why I bought them.

I had some Ozark 14's, very good rods, and a cheaper set of 14's that I also liked. I went to the white 16's and the difference is daylight and dark. They feel lighter than the 14's I had, don't know if they really are, but the balance and sensitivity is better. Like John, I use them for everything. Biggest change for me is the fish don't whip and roll this pole from side to side near as much as the others I had. They come on out a lot easier. I'm sure the other rods mentioned are good too cause I know many of the hands holding them but I haven't tried them myself.

When I was searching for rods all I wanted was sensitivity and tips that didn't flop around real bad when windy.I like backbone,stiffer poles,always have.But for a guy that works 5 days a week you don't get to pick your days to go fishing.I actually that the last bra do I had was the best until i fished with a buddy and noticed the difference.Before that when it was windy I would just single pole instead of spiderrig,now I have more options with my new poles

I use 14' b&m pro staff trolling rods. They are sensitive and they are tuff. Try grizzly jig co for rods. Pro staffs are 31.95 each with 10% discount if you buy more than 3 rods. That discount applies to all their rods.

I have 6ea, B&M, Southern & BPS. Each set is different. But I like them all. P.S- I hand picked them for my needs. It's a toss up for me.

I use B&M PST's and the Caps n Coleman. Didn't like the CnC first time I used them but after I got the hang of them they are now my favorite.

There IS a learning curve with them. No other pole on the market will show you a light bite as well as they do. Gotta net everything over 1.25 tho. After using just about everything out there, I’m still a BGJP guy however.

The light bite detection is what has sold me on these poles. I just had to learn how to play a bigger fish with them. You can be more aggressive playing the fish without worrying about the hook pulling out. I net most all my fish anyhow, so that part doesn't bother me. It's just a habit I got to doing long ago and I believe it saves your rods in the long term, no matter which brand you prefer

They keep 3-4 sets of them rigged for different fishing techniques in their boat at all times. It’s the only pole they use. They like the 14 footers best, but do run the 16s as well. They depend on two basic setups. Double minnow rigs on one set and single 16th or 1/8th ounce jigs for pushing in Heavy cover and trees on another.

They use a No Frills style of fishing. EVERY pole is setup exactly alike. When they run jigs every head and every tube is the same color, and they use plain minnows 99% of the time on their double rigs. I’m sure they do others things, but these two styles are their Bread and Butter.

The nice thing about these guys is that they’re humble. No Big Heads or anything even close to that. They are true Ambassadors for the sport, and they share their styles at Every seminar they give. What makes them so good is the WORK they put in to win. They’re the first boat on the water each day and the last one off the water. THEY WORK HARDER THAN MOST!!!!!!! It pays to have OCD when tourney fishing. [emoji23]

I used the BnM PSTs like that for awhile. 16 foot PST with the C&C tips on em. Great all around combo, but I learned a few things about the BGJPs and switched back.

So Mr . Bill... I am planning on buying either C and C or BGJP tips for my PST rods . The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger is I haven't had the opportunity to speak with someone who has experience with both tips . Sounds like you would go BGJP ? Do you mind sharing why ?
