Anyone got an over the counter cure?
Saline nose spray every hour or so.
Been doing saline spray, and Flonase..they've been my standbys
Afrin is a vasoconstrictor, and is what I used to use in the ER. Saline is a preventives. Correction: flonase can cause them to bleed more easily.
If they are bleeding you probably have a sinus infection.....go to clinic get them checked out....if that is what it is they will probably prescribe anti biotics

I deal with it daily, I use a simple triple antibiotic creme, wipe it around in you nose and then just blow your nose on a tissue, don't wipe it out. May have to do it a few times first couple of days and then once a day for a bit. I use flonaise on a daily basis in order to breathe and when I feel the inside of my nose is getting dry I start with the creme and avoid much bleeding for the most part.
A humidifier in your bedroom will do wonders. Also saline will help hydrate or moisten your nasal areas.

If I went to the doctor every time my sinus' bled I'd spend 100k a year.
I don't like antibiotics, they mess up my intestinal tract. I had a sinus infection following a bad cold most of December but just tried to get some humidity in the house and lots of rest. It went away about a week ago. Sinus infections our serious and should be carefully monitored. Complications include spreading of the infection to the brain and teeth. For people like me who get them every year deciding when antibiotics are needed is complicated. The pain becomes intense spreading from the sinus to the teeth. To tell if it has become an abscessed tooth tap on the tooth if the pain remains the same the tooth is good. As for brain infections they are extremely rare.
A humidifier will do wonders, lowering the temp in the house will too. I don't have a humidifier so I put a pot of water on to boil for a couple of hours. Heaters are set at 60. I've replaced all sweeteners with honey. Haven't been to doctor since I retired.
Ok, I'll ask....what does using honey have to do with sinuses?
I am an ER nurse. I see this problem daily this time of year. Vaseline is what we tell em. And get a humidifier for your bedside.
They told my neighbor to quit burning wood for heat

Do you use a cpap? Be sure to use the heat if you do.
No cpap
Not sure what honey does, but it helps the body, look it up.
Before I swapped to honey I was spending a bunch every year on doctor visits and over the counter drugs. I look up recipes and make what I need.
There's a trick with a red onion to aid healing too.
Surely using a Neti pot would help. I don't deal with it hardly at all anymore because I use a CPAP with humidifier, but I use to have horrible problems with prior to being diagnosed with sleep apnea.
This entry is still from today 01/12/2018 so no one gets screwed up. Maybe I should post that so not to screw up some's thinking since I'm late night.
Get online and find recipes that meet the cure for you ails. You'll find most are made with honey, local honey is better than store bought so check labels. I use 6 gallons per year @ $45. I haven't been to a doctor since 2010, no over the counter drugs since 2011. Debbie drinks Cokes, sugar. She buys lots of over the counter drugs.

I have a Neti pot, haven't used it since 2011.
Local, raw honey is a very good thing, for a whole lot of things. Having said that, the body doesn't utilize or process honey much differently than it does white cane sugar. Honey does have trace elements of over 180 different things that sugar doesn't have. I eat a lot of very, very local honey. It comes from the 25 hives in my backyard and scattered around the farm. This will be my 6th year as a beekeeper.
canebreaker, since you like honey so much and apparently for it's therapeutic properties, you should really check out the uses for propolis. You should be able to get it from the same beekeeper that you get honey from.
Thanks, I'll read some about it, ask my keeper about it and look for recipes.
Never knew all this about honey...I am diabetic, but have heard that the honey does not raise blood sugar as bad...don't know if that is true or not
Here's what I found.
Generally, there's no advantage to substituting honey for sugar in a diabetes eating plan. Both honey and sugar will affect your blood sugar level. Honey is sweeter than granulated sugar, so you might use a smaller amount of honey for sugar in some recipes.
Knowing you're diabetic changes a lot of things. Back to looking.
I used to have the same problem with sinuses and still have some trouble but when I had my wisdom teeth pulled I haven't had them bleed . I know people that have had surgerys and never get better so good luck. I get sinuse infections all the time wish I knew the answer to it.

Dern...bleeding sinuses, tooth infections, brain infections.....sounds like y'all all got Ebola. Tell ya what, I'll buy all your tackle for whatever you told your wives you paid for it and y'all can all go get some extra health insurance with the money.

My wife had the same exact thing done in 2017 and is much better. Doc said the deviated septum would not allow her sinuses to dry out correctly and she kept a sinus infection. She uses a "Sinugator" every day. Kinda like a water pic for you nose.

Debbie and I have been searching and can't find any home remedies that target a person that's diabetic. Winter air is dryer and can cause seasonal bleeding. Sleeping on a top bunk can cause it. It could be a virus.
Here's one thing she found, never thought about. We make potato salad with different colors in it. Potatoes, mayo are white. Mustard is yellow, relish is green and chop up a red or purple onion for a little more color. We thought if it sat out in the heat to long the mayo went bad and someone always got sick. Nope, red and purple onion are the best in absorbing viruses from the air. If someone in the household is sick with a cold/flu try slicing a red or purple onion in thirds and placing them around the house. Make sure that person has a slice close to them at all times, replace every other day.
We tried it, bought a big bag of purple onions. Placed a slice in the living room, bedroom and kitchen, replaced every 2 days, now on our 3rd onion. We both have a light sinus drainage and can go through a box of tissue in 3 days. We blow it out, no snorting. Can't stand to be around anyone that does. This box of tissue was opened the day before we got the onions and it's still about half now.
I tried that with rutabagas and it didn't work.
