Brian's home!
We were on Eufaula last Saturday for a couple of hours we found some in 14 FOW fishing around 10ft deep. Most of the fish we saw while scanning were 9-12ft. We ended up with 10 keepers probably caught 30 or so. EB
Fished a little after work Wednesday. Calm winds weren't my friend. Found a lot of shad and bite was tough. Ended up catching a few around wood in 10' of water. Jig had to be totally still for them to hit. Bite was very light on most but I did get a thump or two. Water temp around rip-rap was 45 but where I caught these was 41-42. Still was a gorgeous afternoon to be on the water for January.
Hopefully, more will report on Eufaula but sure seems this board is fading away.
Sorry for the mix up...I thought I was on the GA site. I tried to delete my post.
No harm badbull, I deleted it for you!
Odie
Thank you!

Not a good weekend for crappie at our dock. I fished for a couple of hours on Saturday using minnows and didn't have a single bite - fishing at around 8-10' in 18 fow. I was hoping the fishing was going to be better than how it was to find minnows. Tried 2 places in Longtown and 1 place in Eufaula before I finally found a place west of Eufaula on Hwy 9 -- and I got their last pound of minnows. But those will last me several weekends. Hopefully the fishing will pick up. I usually have pretty good luck in February, but with the lake being down over 4' right now, who knows how it will be in this year.
they will be more concentrated, OkToon! like fishing in a fish bowl, if it get a little lower!
Has anyone launched at hickory point recently??

It was this low when I was there last. No problems launching but be careful getting to the the channel.
Good bite on Eufaula today had 74 in 5-6 hrs. Spider rigging minnows in 18-23ft.
Hows the bite??

Had 18 good keepers Saturday morning fishing 12-14 ft over brush. That's the first time I've been this year so my info only covers one day
Well i appreciate the info! Im gonna go give it a shot this weekend... im thinking my brushpiles are still a little bit to shallow for this weather we have had.

We seriously need some rain to bring the lake level back up. I'm going to see how the fishing is down at our dock this weekend - weather is finally going to cooperate and not freeze me out. I checked my minnow box last weekend and I still have quite a few alive. Time to put them to good use.
Well the fishing wasn't very good this weekend at our dock. Fishing with minnows everywhere from 5' - 12' in 14 FOW, ended up with 2 really nice bass and 1 little crappie. Hopefully the rains this week will help bring the lake level up a bit and maybe bring the crappie back up around the docks as well.
Rain!!! So glad we are getting some...hopefully enough to get some run off in the lakes

The fishing at Eufaula has been really good here in the last week. I guided Saturday had 42 in 3 hours, then went by myself Sunday evening had 37, then Monday evening and 37. Also had some buddies fishing the same creek on Saturday 2 of the 3 boats had there limits as well. The migration has started. Now with all this rain it will change things a little bit with the lake coming back up and the muddy water but should settle in 4 0r 5 days. EB
Toon- I don't know where your dock is but keep checking it the fish will show up any day now.
We gottem pretty good on friday and we wrecked them on Saturday about 8'- 10'.. and everyone i talked to had been gettin after them further south we went the better it was.

EB, my dock is in Rock Creek Cove (in Arrowhead Estates). Do me a favor and drag all those crappie you are catching and let them go around my dock. I hung new cedars under the dock in December, so they are just ready for the crappie to come and hang out.
But thanks for the encouragement -- I will be checking them every weekend when we are down. You are more than welcome to come see if your magic works at my dock (it's the 2-slip dock next to the boat ramp).
Lake is coming up and the crappie are back.Attachment 291347Attachment 291348Attachment 291349

Slab Addict and I got out on the big muddy today to do some R and D after all this influx of water. Ended up with 33 keepers that we donated to charity. Hey it was for a good cause. Anyway, had to find clean (er) water but was able to find some active ones in 14' of water fishing 8-10 deep.
Well, apparently the damn otter wanted my fish more than me. All 8 fish gone, including my 1.4 lb slab. Now I'll be making a stronger fish box to keep the otter out. I couldn't believe he was able to pull back that welded wire that I had welded to the inside of the frame. I think he probably got in through the top, then when he realized he was trapped, he flipped out and ripped out the floor piece of welded wire.
Dang, Toon!
Those otters can get into about anything. They are creative and destructive
1st time on the water yesterday around 3pm. Caught 3 right off the bat using a red-colored jig at 12 from the dock.
As of this morning the lake is up over 3ft above normal, but the fish are still biting. We had 55 keepers yesterday spider rigging 4-8ft deep in 7-12ft. No big fish just good keepers. I have also heard good reports from the north end and south end. We fished south. EB
We hit Belle Starr the other day. It was up and muddy. Maybe 20 of us there and not one fish. Everybody said it was really good until the rain muddied it up.
EB. Is rip rap or creek channels the best in these conditions right now?

CHEcrappie, a week ago all the fish were in the channels. Since then 8+ inches of rain, 7.5ft difference in water levels moved the fish. I found them out away from the channel on the slopes adjacent to the channel if that makes any sense. Plus the fish are shallower in the water column. When the water comes up and gets muddy the fish really spread out. EB
Thanks EB. I figured it wold scatter them out. Just trying to narrow my search down since I’m only a weekend warrior due to my job.
