Following the big bait--big fish thinking...Do you think the average size of the fish caught are larger on this bigger bait
Cant tell any difference....even little dinks are caught on them.
They seem to produce bigger fish for me, not saying I don't catch a good many shorts on them, but not like I do on the 300's & 350's. Some days may not get many bites on them, but when the pole does bend I know there is a good chance at a good fish.
Nope, matter fact I catch less fish all around on them. In all fairness I have only tried them a few times but my experience is not near as good.
I was probably one of the 1st fishermen in my area to paint and use the c55s. Lots of folks told me they were too big and wouldn't catch crappie. I proved them wrong several times over.
I have caught crappie that were not much bigger than the c55 but I do think they will catch bigger crappie in mid summer and fall. Heck, I have Norman DD22s that I repainted and catch crappie on those as well as Arkie 220s.
I know a lot of the pros use C55s customs they buy from ScottV they seem to like them.
mrdux gave me my first c55's on Kentucky Lake one day. I've caught a bunch of large crappie with them plus a 10 pound green carp. Since then, I've added over 100 more to my collection

Normans, Bomber 7A and 8A, Academy Sports has some big cranks that work well that are next a size up from their H2O series, I've even been known to drag some of the original Hellbenders around but they are expensive on eBay. I bought several dozen Bandit 250 Ledge cranks a while back and paid dearly for them since they are no longer in production. They are quite a bit bigger than a Bandit 300. Most of what I bought were pearl so I could paint them. I had to give $6-$7 each for most of them in lots of 6.
Where do y'all get your C-55's? Wlure is out of stock of all but four colors? They were hot on Grenada and they didn't catch any shorts.

Buy the blanks from wLure and paint my own.
Let me throw this in---I've caught very few crappie on KY or Barkley so far this year on anything but Picos, Arkie 350 and 220s, Bomber Model 6A, and Bandits. So far the big bait bite hasn't turned on here yet. You can bet I'll have plenty of all of them PLUS c55s in my Excel and truck at Enid in a couple of weeks. I think of my crankbaits just like a mechanic thinks of his tools (that's how I sell it to Vicki anyway). I think you are selling yourself short if you don't carry a variety of colors, actions, and brands each time the boat leaves the ramp.
I use a lot of Rapala DT10's, and Rapala CRR10's. I've never noticed a difference in the size I catch between those, c55'ss, or my bandits. They are much bigger baits though, and some days you can't even get bit with them.
Only thing I don't like about c55's is I don't know how deep they are running. I've caught fish on them, but don't have a lot of confidence in them.

What are we giving out secrets here?? Matt want tell you the truth, his little girls painted up the bread winners, we ran them, didn't notice at the time to we rolled them up we was fishing with one hook on one of em', think it was the front hook only :yikes :biggrin
Dang....if yall had had a back hook you would have caught a limit

I catch as many fish on C55s as I do with any other cranks. I get more fish to the boat using the C55 due to the fact that I use #4 hooks on them. Much better hook ups with #4s.

Not to mention those bigger hooks you use actually work in the special mate tackle box. The other cranks I have the treble hooks are to small to use on the double hook rack on the dividers so I can only hang them by one hook, they fall off the dividers all the time, yours don't. Never thought it about it Scott, but now thinking back I lose less fish on your C55 customs as well, something to that bigger hook theory.
Depending on my mood, I may put #6 hooks on the front of the c55s. It keeps the hooks from tangling.
Bought these factory painted C55's online for $1.18 each a few years ago. They're a bit more now depending on the number you buy, but still under 2 bucks if you buy less than 10. We smoked em on this one this weekend. Attachment 270695
Sold out on most of the factory painted colors right now, but they work great for a low price. Lots of colors when available early in the season.
They ARE NOT dink proof by any means.

I did have a custom ScottV one that I won at a camp that was this white color and had a Chart head and pink splatter back that was also good. Only had one and lost it on a tree. [emoji24][emoji24]

I've even replaced the rear hooks on some Arkie 350s and Bandit 300s with #4s. The hooks will hook together sometimes on those baits though.

I had the hooks catch each other on an Arkie 220 the other day. I was more confused than goose in a hailstorm trying to sort that one out.

May be a confidence thing, but I can't catch a fish on anything but a Bandit. I've tried Pico's, Arkie's and several others without much luck. May be because I'm usually fishing 7 Bandits and one of the others.....

I have caught fish on all kinds...But I own 350 Bandits..Day in day out..they put fish in the boat for me..I like the new Picos...Will be glad when he has the chance get more colors out.. Lots of good baits out there...Confidence is the key.
Yesterday on Barkley, our best bait was a custom c55 that is orange with milk chocolate tiger stripes with red eyes. I painted a bunch of them a couple of years ago when we had a major cicada hatch and we killed big crappie on that pattern for over a month.Match the hatch.
BTW, my clients yesterday wanted to catch some catfish for the table pulling cranks. We did.
I can't catch fish on the Arkies either. May be coincidence, but the results are what they are. I've done really well with the C55's over the years tho. The wobble is somewhere between a Flicker Shad and a Bandit. I'm a Bandit guy too and don't own any Jenkos, or Picos YET.

The Picos are working great here on KY and Barkley BUT right now we are having to go to medium runners to keep the bait in the top of the baitballs. Hopefully Mitch will be working on a medium runner soon.
I guess I'm the minority here but my typical crank spread may have 3-4 or more different brands in it at any given time.
I use Picos and Arkies 95% of the time and can't wait for some more Pico colors. Sunday I went through the Pico/Arkie box to no availe, broke out the Bandits, nothing, dug deep and got into the Jenko's, BAM!!! You just never know what they will want, fished Bandits more Sunday than I have in the last year and a half, got a bunch of them, 300 or so but rarely use them. to me it's more about replacement cost if I lose one and I do just as good with the others. If you don't fish em you won't catch anything on them, kinda like I don't catch fish on roadrunners, don't ever fish em!:Rofl
Yep....if they are not in the water ....your not gonna do any good. I couldnt get a hit on anything the other day....put some wiggle worts on and bam....went to catching. Some days are just like that.

Back to the original post... I used to have good luck on Bandit flat maxx cranks. They are much larger than the 300's. Lost them all over time and never replaced. Only non Bandit I have had luck with is the wiggle wart. I'm still trying the Pico's, really good looking bait. They need to come with the new colors....solid black should be first out.[emoji6]

I know this is an old post, but these were all caught today on C-55's. At least in my neck of the woods, they work.
