Haven't tried it yet. Don't see why it won't work. Open water, deep water... Just need to find the bait then the fish. Just waiting for the river to fall and clear up. Still high and muddy. All the landings are closed right now on the Red due to the high water.Quote:

Closest landing would probably be Moncla or Brouillette. Then farther north, there's one just upriver from the lock @ Ruby, one at the oxbow behind Buhlow Lake and one behind RGH in Alex.
I missed my window last fall Tal. Being it was my first summer cranking, I was still fiddling around with Larto and Dubisson. This fall when the river and the water gets right, I plan on trying the Palmer Chapel Oxbow and the one behind Buhlow.
The ramp by buhlow on the river is easy to find on google maps. I would like to go there.

Look for schools of bait fish with your depth finder. Usually in open water (deeper). The Crappie should be close by.Quote:
