Vacuum sealer and why?
I have the food saver bronze. First it was on sale, it has external hook up for the vacume canisters, takes both large and small bag rolls, has various settings for dry goods and meats. It has done a real good job for me so far. Had it a couple of years.
Been using one for about 5 years. Dry filets between 2 paper towels, throw in bag, shrink, and put in freezer. I put them up in
milk cartons, zip lock bags, with water covering them all my life. I can't tell a bit of difference and if I decide I want some
for supper, it only takes about an hour for them to thaw. That being said, I eat all my fish within a year and start fresh in
the spring. I don't know about keeping them for a couple of years. Don't know how it would compare. Just don't know. It doesn't
work on shrimp. The spine on the tail will puncture about half the bags.
I have a wessnton if I was buying another it would be a cabellas brand without a doubt.
Which one indeed. I've been looking at bass pro for one.
here is the one I use and been using this one for 2 years , works great and you can get the bags at walmart for a deal !!! this is my second Foodsaver brand vacuum sealer my mother like my first one so I let her have it and bought me this one !!!!

We have had this Foodsaver for 2 years, and no regrets. Makes the trips to Mississippi with us. No regrets with this unit. Can use moist or dry, marinades, and different roll widths. Even I can use it!!![emoji12]

been thinkin about one myself but just a little confused about which one.
Won't buy another Food Saver, they're garbage and you can't get replacement sealers
according to them. Bought a Cabelas about 3 years ago and am somewhat satisfied with
the results. Learned to flash freeze the fillets first and then vacuum pack, otherwise we
lose bags because of moisture. Good luck John!
been using a Foodsaver Vacuum sealers for 5 years now my 1st one my mother is still using and the one I got now is 2 years old and working great !!! I don't have to flash freeze my fillets and never lose a bag either !!! if you got a bad Foodsaver vacuum sealer that can happen with any brand !!! but wouldn't call the brand garbage especially when buying one from Cabelas !!!
I've been using food saver for over ten years. Bought a new one couple years ago just because I wanted the tall upright style. Works great!

I've been using Food Savers for as long as I can remember. Bought a 100 dollar unit and used it for 8-10 years before it croaked (moisture finally got the pump). I bought a new one 3-4 years ago. It's a GameSaver model I think it's called the Big Game. Great sealer. It has a deep moisture tray and you can seal wet fish or spaghetti sauce. It's a nice machine. Online at Walmart for 199.00. I got mine at Bass Pro for that same amount. Mine is a few years old and looks a little different but it's the same machine. The Titanium model for $330 looks like a killer model. I buy the 50' bulk rolls of bags at Cabelas. On sale right now for just under 18.00 per roll for the 11"x50' rolls.
FYI. When you store your sealed bags in the freezer, make sure you don't just throw them around after they're frozen. You can tear the bag material if you don't handle them properly.
Im leaning more to wrapping my deer meat in freezer paper like I always have and since I dont freeze fish this should keep it simple and a whole lots less complicated
I have been trying to find ways to less complicate my life and freezer paper seems to be the whey to go,no need to stock pile meat that wont be eaten.
I lost all my fish in the garage freezer at the lake. Dang thing went out and ruined my fish. No sealer in the world can save em that way. [emoji30][emoji24][emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]
I use a poor mans vacuum sealer. I lay all my filets flat in an a ziplock bag. Then, submerge the bag in a sink full of water making sure to keep the open end up and let the water push all the air out. You may have to "massage" the bag to get the last few air pockets out. Then flip it upside down under water and zip the top closed expect for maybe an 1/8" in one corner. Slowly pull the bag up out of the water(keeping it upside down) and let the water drain out. Then seal the last corner just before it breaks the surface of the water. That bag will look like you ran it through a vacuum sealer just the same.

I suspect Foodsaver makes the Cabela's brand.
