Not to be... We are permitless carry now, was effective as soon as gov Bryants signature was dry. Thank you gov Bryant!
Way to go, Mississippi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have enjoyed the carry permits so far. Personally hate to see it's demise. No training, no safety class, no introduction to basic carry ethics. Just go to a show , get you one, hang it on your belt and start walking around the rest of us trying to look cool. Not the best idea we've ever had. I know y'all have sense and experience. Most don't.
At least those without cc permits have to obey the no weapon signs in public areas
The permits will still be here......and in my opinion the enhanced permit is the way to go......if you ever have to go to court you will be better off if you have one. And its good to have when you go out of state also.

Last post. Got family in county, state , and federal enforcement. Kinda look at Saturday nights a little different. Passing the permit test was the Only buffer we had for mental illness. So the instructors could talk to every applicant. I love my guns....have a trust for suppressors and non standard units. I love our freedoms. Ownership is a right. Having them in your vehicle is a right. But wish carrying them in proximity to my family was still a privilege extended to the registered and safety trained.
If the weapon is seen and you are asked to leave and don't you can be charged. There are only 3 places in the state where you are forbidden to carry. Two are physical and one is situational. We teach the course once a month at Moorhead at the law enforcement gun range on campus. Come by sometime and get your cc enhanced. Best thing about it is you don't have to wait for a background check for a store purchase of a weapon. I think it's worth it just for that!
Once a quarter. Sorry
You and I both know the fishermen, hunters, outdoorsmen, and country folks aren't the issue. Never have been.
Your right Super, but some will have you think guns period are the issue. Like a gun is responsible for committing murders or random shootings. I get so tired of hearing the phrase "gun violence". Guess all my guns are tamed or domesticated cause they don't go bang unless I pull the trigger. And yes, classes or enhanced permits are a great attribute to a responsible gun owner. Like G says, if you ever get brought up in front of a jury it couldn't do anything but help.
I'd still rather be judged by 12 than be carried by 6
Right on SuperGlue..
G, I have way more training and trigger time than a 8 hr class can provide, my boss was a NRA competitive shooter for 20yrs, we pratice drills and shoot regularly, plus most of us in the south were taught gun safety at an early age. BTW, why would it look better to a judge by having a piece of paper if I save my life, your life , or a total strangers life by using deadly force to stop a clear an present threat to said persons life?
I understand you are trained....but when push come to shove and you wind up in court the enhanced permit shows the jurers and everyone else that you went thru the process to be legal and responsible. Like you I have had way more training also and been shooting handguns for over 50 years. With the enhanced permit you can carry legally in not all but most states. Like you I fought it for years...carried without.....I just feel better now with the permit.
.
See folks G and I prove good healthy debate is possible....lol
Amen and amen Goodtime. We are all shaped by our personal experiences growing up. On another note.....I haven't gotten a ticket since I started handing my license and enhanced cc out the window to the officer. Less rights are seldom good. I can agree on that
Probably just boils down to the fact that I don't trust strangers around me or my family with a loaded weapon displayed. Makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck
Well , I OC'd till now, because I don't believe in paying for a God given right to protect myself.
I never have carried open .......I feel better with it hidden

I can usually skip the gun talks, but I had to get in on that one. Fellow you said a mouthful right there.
How about the guy next to you who didn't buy his seeds from the same company you did being unable to keep his seeds because of the wind, bees, fate, etc? There are some dangerous precedents being set in some places right now.
If you grow it, it's yours. I don't understand anything in opposition to that. A company's right to it's seeds has to end after they are purchased. ((Agreeably, I might feel different if I owned the seed company...but I don't.))
I went last week to get a permit and plan on taking the enhanced class as well . To tell the truth it still galls me to pay a" Gun Tax", which I firmly believe this is .I have carried for the last 20 plus years without a permit . I don't like to open carry due to being targeted by thieves nor do I want a evil doer to know I have one till it barks . Since I feel it is more and more necessary to be armed I felt it was time to get it all, even if I don't like it . jmo.
Yep. Now due to cross pollination , non tolerant varieties have enough genetic material in them they test positive. South American farmers told them to go jump in the lake and plant saved seed so we get to pay for their licensing too. Kinda like what's the difference between being 300 and 325 feet away from a deer feeder? $525.00. It's just the golden rule now.....he who has the gold....rules. The Supreme Court gave the rights of the individual to nameless, faceless corporations and superpacs. 5000 kingmakers forever unless they change it soon.
Ok guys....we talking concealed carry and gun laws here....If you want to talk about farming...big corporations....and seed....please start your own thread. Thanks And remember the rules.....if it gets too political it gets moved to WOT. Thanks for understanding
OC can get you killed..by either a subject wanting to do wrong...he sees you with a gun..someone distracts you..they pop you from behind..you won't see it coming..OR. You make someone really nervous by carrying. They shoot you....concealed and trained is best..
Common sense..I'm not arguing.. Do what you want.
Not arguing, I just prefer facts vs personal opinion.
Yeah "G". I kinda went off the rails
Been way too wet for way too long. No need for me to vent though
I conceal carry. Have for 20 years I believe it's a better idea. Out of sight out of mind. Because there are people sees you with a weapon and they want to try you.
I like facts also..my personal opinion is based in the facts that I have had over 150 hours of handgun training with instructors that teach at Gunsite, have actually worked as an Instructor, and have competed for over 10 years at a high level in defensive events..That is what I base my opinions on...it is just that...my opinion...it is my prayer that neither of us have to use our weapons at any time
