Any pros or cons on the Denali Pryme 16' trolling rods. I was thinkin about buying these rods. I'm new to spider rigging. Just needin some advice. Thanks for the help.
I've been using them for the last 3 months. Super light weight, great tip and strong backbone.. The white helps on light bites as well. A+ poles
cost?
They can't be 3 times better than my Southern Crappie Rods. Like rock said even if they are really good the cost in my opinion for the average fisherman is to high.
Well let me through my 2 cents in. Ain't nothing good cheap & ain't nothing cheap good ! Don't let price swade you . You pay for what you get.
I don't completely agree with that, a lot of time the price is hi because of ad campaigns, pro staffs, etc etc ect. A fair price isn't necessarily cheap and in the case of the Southern Crappie rods Ed chooses not to follow the road of hipe in order to keep the price down on a quality pole. The Denali poles are nice but from what I have seen as far as retail pricing not for me. Grizzly Jig did make a Facebook post the other day about having them for a fair price, might check there, I haven't called cause I'm not interested in them. Best suggestion there is would be to get your hands on a couple and fish with them before ordering and see if you like them.
Bass rod company making crappie rods not a crappie rod company making crappie rods. I suspect they are good but it would take alot of convincing for me to give up the capps and colemans. Not sure that white color would do my eyes any good on the water......
I have used nearly every rod made for Crappie. The Denali's are the best I have ever used. The quality of the rod was apparent when I first picked it up....light as a feather but also very solid. Like Cray said, the cost may be too prohibitive for the average fisherman but for the SERIOUS Crappie fisherman who takes pride in his equipment and wants a rod that will give him the absolute best chance possible for catching a fish then the Denali's are what he is looking for. Don't get me wrong, I love my Capps & Coleman's but there are only certain conditions where I use them. The Denali's are the best "all around" rods out there and are only a few dollars more than an "average" rod. This is a case where you definitely get what you pay for.
At 90.00 per rod, my current set up is just fine.
And by the way, just because you own and fish with very expensive gear does not mean yhat your anymore serious than the next fisherman.
Matter of fact, my 8 HT's 14ft rods performed very well at Lake Washington. And the wife and I brought home the couples title and a overall 6th place finish.
Wonder if them fancy poles would have made us better fishermen?
I have Capps & Coleman 14' and 16' and have done pretty good with them... have some hardware to back it up! They cant be to bad of rods I know Ronnie and Steve have some hardware as well.. I believe its what your budget and what you want to use! Bambo stick will catch fish!!!
Hehehe
I like to wait for folks to buy new rods and I get there used ones at the brother-in-law price
My B&M West Point Crappie poles do just fine at 20 something dollars per pole!
Fancy rods are to catch fishermen..not fish...get what you like, and go fish..For me, Southern Crappie rods are all I want or need
Its kinda like Fords....Chevys.....and Dodges........They make different kinds so people can get what the want or like the best. I love my BnM Capps and Colemans
I like the NEW JENKO RODS !!!!
i also have a set of 8 Capps and Coleman rods, along with BGJP's and PST's. I use each set for different situations. I'm not bashing the C & C's rods but if you visit with Ronnie or Steve or just look in their boat most of the time they are fishing BGJP's! Lol! All about advertising!
Well seeing how this thread is into it's third day my biggest concern OP would be that not one has come forth and commented about the Denali rods, good or bad. Sometimes the silence can be an answer in itself. I agree with the others, you don't need to spend a whole bunch money on good rods. I know everyone of the rods the other guys posted above are all good rods, you know how? It's not because I've fished with everyone of these, it's because these guys and gals are vouching for them. So pick whichever suits you, and the important thing is get out on the water and feesh :fish
That was one fine fish!!
I'm a BnM guy.
We only sell the BEST....Xpress Hyper Lift, Ranger Aluminum, Excel Hunting and Fishing boats, and the New Havoc duck boats. Call Bill at 870-635-0202 for the Lowest Prices in the country to C.C members.
$90 a rod is ridiculous! !!!!!!!!!!! Ice to Eskimos! Haven't seen a winning tournament team with them yet. Not saying they aren't good, but if they were worth the cash, there would be someone out there wearing their logo. LAUGHABLE!!!!!!!!!
The guys that would be wearing the logo would probably be getting them free, or at a greatly reduced price
Thanks for all your input. I've decided on Jenko 16'.
Please post review of the Jenko's...............
I inquired about the Denali pro staff and the owner told me he did not need anyone for crappie pro staff (funny all I saw were bass pro staff on web site). He did tell me he would give me the VIP Discount and the 14' footers would still cost me over 63.00 apiece + shipping.
I know of at least 6 that are on is pro staff ( crappie )!!!!
My Review of the jenko rods is I have been fishing with and also using them on my guide trips for about a month now . They have a very sensitive tip and great backbone they are also very light and are fairly priced my last 3 clients have bought a set of 8 and 2 more are waiting on a new supply to come in to get theirs !!! IF I can help any further please contact me !!!!
Just going by what is on there site......
Well it's not true !!!!
So there web site is incorrect........ show me the crappie pro staff profiles.
OP made his choice he is going with Jenkos.. and you said you talked to the owner of Denali and he told you he didn't need any pro staff team members to represent his crappie rods (page 3). Now your basing your info off the website, which is it? And BTW they do have a pro staff application form on their site for crappie / panfish fishermen.. but like I said it's not even relevant anymore OP has made a decision. Ya'll have a good day!!
All of the above and BTW I did fill out pro staff app. That is when I talked to owner. when I went to there site there was not anyone listed for crappie pro staff. Like i said the guy told me he did not need anyone. Told me he would sell me rods for 30% off the price on the site. I do not see were this warrants all of the nonsense.............. not bashing any of there products just stating what I know. And Y'all have a nice day......... Trenton mo. guy here.
Ok, I just did a quick calculation. At 30% off that would make them 63.00 each for trolling poles. That puts them right in line with the higher end poles that are out there. From talking to a couple of guy's I trust that are fishing them they would be worth the money if you can afford them. What a lot of guys on here sometimes fail to take into consideration is not everyone can afford to run out and buy the latest greatest product that comes out. Yet I feel these kinds of posts are good because it gets a lot of good information out there for those who might be on the fence about a product they might be interested in. Just like Meatgetter posting about the Jenco rods. I had never heard of them. Might turn out to be another great product or a bust, who knows but either way it goes we as a group have the information to make a informed decision. To my simple old mind that's what this site is all about. Don't need any bashing of people or products.
Well said Charlie
