Big bluegill bed deep....but here in TN deep is considered 7-9 feet. The deeper beds hold the biggest Gills. I was shocked to find these beds in a lake I was scouting for spring fishing. You can bet I will be there come spring.

That's definitely an interesting find...
I wonder what caused the big gash in the lake bottom or the right SI in the 2nd pic...??

Good question. There was a nice creek that was damed to form the lake. Water is always running out the overflow.

I like that you can see the paddle strokes. How are you able to keep the yak so steady when paddling?
That split in lake bottom, looks to me as a old creek bed what with stumps along side it.
It's really not an issue. I did a lot of research before buying an si unit for a kayak. There was a lot of bad info out there about it not working correctly on a kayak. I think it works great in a kayak....just need to match up the chart speed with the speed of the yak. It's funny that the paddle strokes don't show when I am using 800 kHz.Quote:

I have it mounted at my right hip. It works out good there but I would like to have it in front of me to vertical jig. If I mount it up front though it is difficult to raise every time I beach the kayak.Quote:

Would not take much to make something with a hinge to allow easy lifting with a string before you beach. Not sure how deep kayak's ride but you might be able to have the ducer at just the right height to allow ducer to be a the proper depth and still allow you to beach as long as you are not hitting a vertical beach.Quote:

Great find! I put my HB 787c2i on my kayak after buying a HDS for the motor boat. I have a Wide Side transducer that I will have to mount on the kayak to see under the docks, thanks for the info :ThumbsUp
