Using minnows or jigs? And would you happen to know a good spot that would be good to launch a kayak close to the main Chanel to do some spider rigging without having to paddle forever
Ims gonna try some minnards tomorrow with some spider riggin . This crankn isn't fit tn my style.
Can't give up yet BAMA, too much sweat equity tied up in the game. I am gonna try to drag some cranks in the main channel at Logan this week. Tried all of the big sloughs w/o much luck.Quote:

A place to launch at mid lake would be Rainbow Landing and further down river would be Greensport. The launch at Canoe Creek would be a long way from the main channel but you can usually catch some fish along the creek channel as it goes toward the river. I was using minnows and jigs tipped with minnows. Caught about equally on both. Remember there is a 3 pole per person limit on Neely Henry and Weiss lakes in Alabama. Wind, my worst enemy. Fished this morning for 3 1/2 hours and quit because the wind was just too much to fight against. All my good places were right out where the wind was the worst. Still caught 12 crappie and a couple of trash fish. Lost several more because the bite was real light. Water temps were 82-83. Caught them 12-14 feet deep. Tried deeper and shallower but no luck. They were not pulling any water and I think if they had been the bite would have been better.
Thanks for the report. Wind and I don't get along well either. Were you still catching them on the river channel edges?
Fished Neely Henry again today, 7/1/2014. Today I could only get fish to bite fishing around humps by the river channel, could not get any on the actual channel edge. Caught 18 and lost 5 more at the side of boat and missed about 15 other good bites. All caught 10-12 feet deep today. Water temps were 81.4-85.2.
I have to make some time to go and chase them next week before I have to spend the following week in Chicago and travel into the following week. This work stuff is really getting in the way of fun.
PW1 I hope you get a chance to get out and get you some stress release time. I know what you mean about work getting in the way. If you get to go be careful the temps are supposed to get back up around 90 for next week. I may not go unless it cools down again. Be safe in your travels my friend.

My 3 kids and I went out Saturday night and fished under lights anchored up on the river channel. We caught approximately 90 crappie from 9"-14" and about 30 more short fish using minnows. We brought home 40 nice ones and had a big fish fry on Sunday afternoon. The bite started around 10PM and we left with them still biting at 3:30 AM. The fish suspended from 8'-12' under the lights. The kids were having a ball and I had a ball watching them catch the fish none stop.Quote:
