Cajun cooker is the best. I have two, a 4 gallon and an 8 gallon. They make a smaller one if you are just cooking for the family. Any cooker is capable of turning out good fish in the hands of a skilled operator, but the Cajun cooker just about idiot proofs the process. Pour oil in, light and let temps get in the green. Throw in fish. Cook until you think they are right, and they will be good.
Cajun cooker is the best. I have 6 gal but I feel the 4 gal has better recovery and will almost cook as fast.
can't afford one of them hi dollar jobs, got a cast iron job i have been using for almost forty years...
I bought a huge wok and set it on an open base so the flame can get to it on my regular cooking stand. Takes about 2 1/2 to 3 gallons of oil. I can cook almost 5 pounds of fries or 50 hush puppies at a time. Think the wok cost me $75 is all and I already had the cooking bad from my turkey fryer
Cast iron Dutch oven
I have an R&V works cajun fryer for bigger gatherings and a electric Presto submersible element unit (cheap version of a resturaunt fryer) but really works well. I take the Presto on every fishing & hunting trip I go on and use it alot when it's just 4 to 8 people at the house.
t fal ultimate, drains the oil and filters it when it is done, its electric though
Look at the 1.5 gallon from cajun.I have the 4 gallon and it's just too big for cooking at home.
Went with one from the local propane office. It's stainless with two burners and three baskets. There going hard pipe it from my deck to my tank so I don't have to fill bottles. Thnx for the recommendations.
Cajun!!!
I have R &V works 2.5 and a 4 gallon. They are great for big crowds. But I honestly think everything taste better when cooked in cast iron pot?? Maybe it's a mental thing??

Depending on how many people your going to cook for, for a large crowd the Cajun fryer is without a doubt the fastest thing there is, especially the 3 basket one, but, when I cook for just 3 or 4 people I always use my cast iron pot as some of these other guys stated.
Old fashion corn meal
LOVE my wok but if it's windy, forget it

Attachment 161816Attachment 161817 Never heard of em but they make a good cooker.
Woke up thinking bout cooking some wings...... Man that would be good with some fries for supper. Yep yep yep
That looks great, Bama. Love the exhaust hood.
Dodging the rain firebug. Dodging the rain. My deck is not weather proof yet.
I have had this cooker for 30+ years and it was used when I got it. It is thermostat controlled and by far my favorite when cooking for 1-25 people. It's a little crusty, but doesn't that make the food taste better?
Pic was taken this past Friday at a cookout for 15.
E-Z that looks like it would cook up some vittles in a hurry.:ThumbsUp
It will for sure. Holds 1 3/4 gal of cotton seed oil, also my favorite. If cooking for more that 15-20, I may add a little of the 1/4. You use very little of the cotton seed oil as apposed to other oil I've used, and the flavor can't be beat as far as I'm concerned.
Here's what I use when cooking at home. It's made by Presto. It's made of steel and has a thermostat. I can fry 3 whole crappie or 8 or so filets at a time in it. I fried these tonight in it.
