Great video! thanks for posting Matt
Thanks D-10 for all the hard unapprecated work you guys do that Ark has the Great fishing that we have!! Thanks again!!
Question for D-10? How is the best way to tell a Black Crappie from a White Crappie other than color? Noticed a lot of different colors in the crappie you were sampling!!Thanks again!!
very cool
great video
cool video and good info , thanks matt!
Cool! I enjoyed the video.
White crappie have 6 dorsal spines and black crappie have 7 or 8 dorsal spines. The dorsal spines are the hard spines on top of the fish. There are different colors in the nets because there are also redear, bluegill, and yellow bass in the nets with the crappie.
And to think this whole time I was trying to use a pole!
Enjoyed the video. Our AGFC guys up here are doing a great job as well. We would just like for them to have a few more BIG waters to work.
Thanks for sharing D10, I have often wondered what type of nets you were using.
To D10 last week I caught around a 4 lb hybrid striper at greens lake, I didn't know they were in the lake did AGFC stock them?
Think I'll try that method on Saturday. How many boats do you think would be in the way?
I enjoyed the video Matt. Thanks for all that you do around here.
Great video!
That was very interesting. Thanks for posting that for us to see. I think it's good for all of us to get a glimpse of the work that goes on behind the scenes. Thanks for all you do!!
What do you do with all the yellow bass and drumb that find their way into the nets????? If you need to PM me that is ok. rotfl
We don't catch drum in the nets. But we catch 100s of yellow bass. They fertilize the near by plants and trees in the woods.
Great video!!!! Thanks for all the info. Great job.
Neat video.! Thanks for the information.
I still have to get use to my brother doing that show I have to say he Def knows arkansas fishing and wildlife
Great video, and obviously hard, dedicated work.
Where can I get one of those nets? I need to fertilize my freezer!!! ;)
Some of them crappies looked like redears to me!! DP
thanks for posting , Matt.
Better watch those redear. They are likely to wrap you up in the nets and steal your boat to boot. Those are some feisty fish! :yikes
Give me a shout if you net or shock Greers.
We can't trap net Greers efficently due to the bathtmetry of the lake. I would like to get a good look at the crappie population but unfortunately there is not a good method on these types of lakes (very large corps reserviors). We do not plan on electrofishing Greers this year. But I do have a good idea of how you could help us collect some crappie data. I will give you a holler and see what you think Wayne. Thanks.
Swamp Rat- we have had several other reports similar to your. The other Matt (Matt Horton) saw one of these fish. It was a striper. They probably ran up Palarm Creek from the AR River, when the creek was up and we had he gates open They hen ran into the lake. If the hot water temperaturs don't kill them this summer (probably will) we may see some big stripers in Conway in a few years.
To tell the difference between a striper and a white bass, you look at the tooth patch on the back of the tongue. A striper has two patches (side by side) and a white bass has one patch. You can see and feel them.
There were a few years where hybrids (Hi brads as some call em or Wipers) schooled like crazy at Harris Brake. Most of em were about 5 lbs but they were tough to land with all the standing timber in there.
