If you utilize the gimbal mount that the unit sets in simply loosen the two thumb nuts on left and right side, disconnect the cable collector from the back and unplug the cables and you have removed the unit.
If you have a rem mount simply loosen the ram with the hand knob, pop the the top mount off the ram mount, disconnect the cable collector from the back and unplug the cables and you have removed the unit.
Take mine off every time I get out of water in less than a minute. Use first method above, although I have a ram mount as well.
Good to know, haven't got boat yet. But I want the 1198 when I purchase and want to travel some.
Check out the durasafe locks for the ram mounts and your depth finder.
I use a quick release swivel mount. works good for me.
You get one, go here and get one of these.

When I pull up my lake map as a single screen I m not showing depths or contour lines. I'm using the navonics premium south. Any suggestions?
Did you zoom in?
Naw I didn't .... Thnx I feel overwhelmed with having a boat. Not thinking straight. Ill try that Friday .:bash
Should be the more you zoom in the contours and depths show up, if I am remembering right! I really like that new boat you got!!
Thnx. I really enjoyed fishing out of it.
Need o see my contour lines being the lake Is in drawdown stage.
I normally zoom into the 500' scale, them just drive! Will use 1000' on a lake I don't know .
I figured it out redge you were right. I like this 1198 both the DI and SI are awesome.
Glad it worked out Bama, I really like my 1198, it has definitely helped me catch more fish! Once you use it a while you will be able to tell if they are crappie, and if they are big enough to stop and fish!
