Hey Roy don't know about the lake 1st time here and came without the boat but will triple haul next year. I have been fishing what they call the ditch which runs around the lake do see tons of boats coming and going. I been hitting 1 or 2 close to sunset and rise and pull 11/2 L/M Bass. This morning was down to mid thirty's with 25mph wind, just came back and got shuck...
A buddy of mine has been getting a few in front of Dyess ditch in the pads.
Bite has been good, lot of small fish, if in a boat try kissimee river area, or nubbins slugh if you don`t. Good luck!
I'll be heading to the south end of the lake, fishing is probably better at the north end though. I tried trolling last year got out a little late but the size of fish trolling was sooo much bigger, cant wait to stick the poles out. Will give up-date around the 20th.
I cant wait to get back to okeechobee...got the boat all ready and the poles all rigged and ready.I do good on the south end at night but prefer the northwest side from Harney Pond to the river. Headed up there next weekend and hopefully I have some pics to post. Good luck guys..tight lines and heavy stringers.
Never fished the Big O, I really need to before I leave FL. I may make a trip down there during the full moon in march to do some shellcracker fishing. Good luck!
Been twice for shell cracker in the lake and man what a time. I'm originally from north florida and still have relatives there, but been down here 25yrs or so, if and when you your able to visit drop a line and I'll tell you where the hot spots are.
That would be great Roy!
Great set up two days of fishing months ago and three fronts coming in this week, but i'm going come bells or high water.
Got to the lake Friday burrrr launched out by slims couldn't get motor to crank. so when you got lemons you use the trolling motor. had to re-rig from trolling to bobbers. found the fish right against the bank by grass in the rim. was fishing in about six foot of water set cork at about 2 1/2 ft no luck went against the bank reset to a foot and there they were, caught 9 nice ones. need some help in how to download pictures on site?

The shell croaker bite is beginning of April after the full moon. We are getting the specs down south in Clewiston now. Big ins too!
You need to. It is awesome. Best time is end of April for she crackers. The specs are going off right now. Big ins too!
I am making my first trip to the "O" the first week in April. Am joining some friends who have been making the trip over 30 years so I hope I get some good advice. They fish mainly for bream (bluegill) in the lake and Oscars in the glades. Staying at the Anglers Inn in Clewiston. All new to me. Can't wait.
Oc course, if I can get on the crappie, I wll do that in a heartbeat.
Cant find a better lake 370 sq. miles of fishing enjoyment, cant wait to go after those shell crackers either
