I generally am not one to complain but, if you are in a spot and someone's boat is bumping into yours isn't that too close? What ever happened to showing a little courtesy? Just saying!!!

I always felt like two casts' distance is required...........one for you and one for me........any closer and you're too close, unless invited. JMHO.
If they are close enough to bump boats they are close enough to hear what I'm saying.
It just depends. I had a person to catch a slab out from underneath my boat and I was tickled to death. In another specific case I had someone fish my marker that I was still fishing and ruined the fishing hole by jacking around directly on top of the structure that was in 6 FOW. The pole tips were within 12 inches at times. Same knucklehead cut me off at the ramp after I had waited for 2 boats to load in front of me. :Rofl
It's fishing. If a person can find a fish, he will have company sooner or later but it ain't gonna be me.
You missed it I finally told the guy how sorry he was and that he should have more respect for other fisherman, he got on top of one of the guys in the yak after was literally trying to fish within inches of his boat , what an idiot, he is a member of this forum , I've seen him on here before , I won't say who he is but he doesn't represent what most on here are about! I wanted to get in his boat and it wasn't even me he was crowding , your a better man than me for keeping your cool! Give me a shout sometime and we can hit the creek together!
I cant stand Ignorance on the water. For crying out loud people "GIVE ME SOME ROOM WILLYA"!!!!
Way to close if poles bump ! I've had buddys dodge boats after using a marker bouy to put them on fish. Once we had guys pull in on our bouy and had the nerve to get so close it was bumping their boat. When we retrieved the bouy to move away they told us it was'nt bothering them. It gets too crowded and I usually just move on Nimrod. I know some places that is more diffacult with the crowds. On Lake X , Dardanelle , and Conway space can be limited but everyone needs some room.
I was out there when it all took place. Glad Crappie Greg spoke his mind. It was already tight in the spot where fish were being caught so I just kept my distance but was in ear shot when words were exchanged. I know the other member and he was pissed when he passed by me like he did nothing wrong. No need to fish on top of another boat especially bumping in to them. We should all respect other crappie fishermen and the hole they are fishing in. I have noticed that most are nice enough and if you show them respect they don't mind you fishing around them as long as you have boat control.
I get it. There are times.....like if folks know each other and are 'invited' into the space.........
And I'm thinking more of fishing a 'hole', not so much when 10 boats are all out 'strolling' around in an area. Hard to not get close at those times. But if I'm sitting on a fairly small brushtop, and you come up uninvited and get less than a cast away, I'm not happy. I usually just pack up and leave without saying anything....'turn the other cheek' and all that. I have other spots usually. But it still is not right, and I have no problem when good folks point that out to the ill mannered and misinformed among us.
If I was too close and got told so, I'd get out of the way in a hurry, and say nothing.
I am new to this crappie deal fishing, sure hope I am never that guy. One reason I have been semi avoiding the cove, trying to learn new boat, and I don't want to be that guy ever. I know wind still gives me fits sometimes getting used to my trolling motor. But bumper boats seems a lot too close for comfort for me, or other boat.
I was out there as well. The disrespectful guy had to pick up two of his poles off of his rod holders and lift them both over the head of the guy in the kayak. It was crazy!! I have never seen that kind of crazy behavior in my life on the water. Way to go Greg for speaking up!!! That kind of person will not learn if stuff like that doesn't happen.
I just have to say you guys down south are alot more polite than me. I would have been like Bobby Boucher: So that's what opening up a can of whoop-ass feels like. that might have put a end to it..:biggrin
After being in that situation with you sir , no you have no reason to complain. That was uncalled for when he come in and did what all he did tryin to get in there . I don't mind fishing around most ppl when it's tight like that bc the majority of the guys are courteous fishermen and a few can work together in tight . But there can be situations where it's just uncalled for and unfortunately today we there when it took place. And it's not that I got upset bc the man came in trying to find a fish but when you come in and start to screw up three other boats fishing that ain't cool . The 8 or 10 times he picked up and dropped that anchor stirred up more mud than what we needed .
We try our hardest to bite our tongue and let it be , we are fortunate to get to fish more than most so there will be another day. Ya know tomorro :) ... That or those darn kayaks have no business being out there and just need to get the heck out of the way to begin with ... Haha haha ;)
I am gonna make ya'll some special brownies to eat before entering the pool to fish lol. I am jealous I didn't get to play bumper boats too with the red bass tracker. Liv2fish you can fish in my boat next time and kayak man and his dad can fish out of the back. We will eliminate 3 boats that way or we can just tie a rope to each other And I will pull ya around. Man what a circus that would be.
Forgot we can put one of the little take a number thingies at the entrance. Can't enter until one leaves and only room for 50 boats.
Haha that's funny pops prolly needed a brownie when he paddled off I could tell he was hot around the ears. I just know my dad he had to go cool off and let his bp come down
He told me it was just one of those times where he personally wasnt catching "that many" fish to make a scene . He told me he didn't wanna make a scene and offend my c.com buddies ... Just better to pull anchor and paddle off
people like that should be restricked to fishing under 89 bridge and piers on crowded days only! iM with you crappie Greg
Hopefully this was a learning experience for this angler and the mistake will not be repeated in the future. Obviously this type of thing is better to be handled the way it was, BUT if this type of behavior continues from anglers like the one in question, it could be considered harassment and there are laws on the books that prohibits the harassment of anglers and hunters while fishing or hunting. Hopefully the lesson has been learned.
The mans intentions were to catch a fish , I completely understand that it's a whole lot more enjoyable day when ur catching fish too and not just watching ppl catch fish ... He just went about tryin to get in close all wrong and hey we're all human I've pulled a bone head stunt or two in one way or another throughout my life There's no hard feelings towards the man between dad and I , it's a respect thing that's all but he wasnt trying to keep me from catching fish he just missed the personal space boundary lines today that's all
You guys are having way too much fun!! I need to get in on this. I just added a new "bumper" on my boat and would like to test it!! :biggrin
I'm just one of those folks that I don't like to be that close when I'm fishing. I go fishing for the relaxation and the solitude most of the time. I do not deal with people that get that close real well.
If yall just post the day when everyone is gonna fish we can tie up and just walk across the boats to the brush piles :-)
Hey Kent. Stop at Jonesboro on your way down there and pick me up.
Yall come to sippi. 75 boats fishing pole to pole on Sardis. I think thats why they dont allow drinking on the lake.
I didn't even see another boat on the water with me yesterday. Yall should try fishing where the fish arn't bitting.
My boat came with four of these:

I didn't know what they were for, and put 'em away. Glad y'all are informing me@!!!!! :biggrin:biggrin
Man
I miss everything. I even had my boat hooked up and still didn't make it to the pool Tuesday.
DP
If we gotta worry about our lines tangling you may be to close for gods sake or hooking my head when you have to lift you're pole over my head. I don't care where you fish if you are that close that's to damn close.
In Illinois some say it aint a good day unless we are scratching paint.....hince the reason I have a plate boat! Sounds like a real good time!
Glad you all brought it to their attention. Not only is it disrespectful, it can be dangerous if you get within striking distance of my 11fter.
Oh yea swapping paint is all fun and games till you find yourself sitting in a kayak in 30 degree temps and 40 something degree water... You bump my yak or leave out on plane and leave me splashing in the water, I will promise ya you will have one ticked off redneck doin a tap dance on your forehead.... And I got no bones about it
