Slabo they are awesome hunting but I don't think anything would work on those things. It was unbelievable
we would have tried anything but I don't think nothing would have worked
Someone posted that they were gone Sunday when they fished.
Love my thermacell but haven't tried it for gnats just mosquitos. Not sure if they are the same gnats we got over here, but tried these BugBand Towelettes | BugBand DEET-Free Insect Repellent this year and they have been working great. Got some samples from a Crappie Masters tournament. Tried them out and was impressed how well they worked. Wiped on forehead, ears, back of neck, and sides of face and then rubbed the brim of hat and no more gnats. May be just some type of swarm ya'll got this year since all the rains?
3 Dollar head net from coleman at wally works for me over here in swampland Arkansas. keep one in boat at all times!!
There was a hatch this weekend, that's why there was so many. They all gone now.
Some time ago we were in Hilton Head SC. and they give us Avon SOS wipes for what ever those little black biting bug's were,, since then i just buy a bottle of it and use a cloth soaked in it ,then wipe on exposed skin.. you will smell different but they don't bite.
There are things that will work.

The whites gnats are bad at reelfoot too. I found this on the net and it works, get some therapeutic lavender oil, pure vanilla extract and some lemon juice mix it up in a spray bottle and spray on. They still fly around the boat but at least you dont eat em for lunch. 15 to 20 drops of oil, 2 table spoons of vanilla and 1/4 cup of juice in 20 ozs of water.
I've heard kerosene rags around your ankles will help alot. :biggrin
They were bad but I will take it if I can have another trip like I had Saturday.
Put a 5th if your favorite bourbon in the boat and take a swig every 15-20 minutes. You will not notice them at all.
Listerine in an open container is said to work.
