Throw em back?!?! Are you crazy?! People pay good money for those fish...
We eat them almost as fast as I can catch them. I share a lot with some of the old timers that can't get out much anymore.
50
450-500
Only time i throw em back is when im at limit or its too small. Eat a lot of fish and supply family members as well.
Plus, theres no guarantee im gonna be here tomorrow... Let alone next year :)
7, but sometimes I give one away so I'll keep 8 just to have some cushion.
Wannabe...
I cook crappie about 4 times a year for me and my wife. I do save enough each year to furnish for a Church fish fry....its a small Church and I usually cook about 200 fillets.
I forgot about catfish, usually try and put about a 100 for the occasional fish fry
I keep enough in the freezer to cook for 12-15 people. Those get used or need more, I'll go fishing.
We eat fish but once a week and also have a couple fish fries. Probably bout 450 ish filets a year. I go take them to work n give friends n clients fish a lot though. Got a friend coming over in a few to pick up 3-4 bags to take to his house in Lousiana
I do give fillets away to neighbors and friends that are not able to fish anymore
I give lots of fish and filets away to friends and family plus we eat lots of fish. I also supply the fish for a railroad retiree fish fry every year. I fish Okatibbee where they are wanting to reduce the crappie population so I do my best to help them out. Lol
Good question and post BTW!!!
Used to have a couple of shelfs full in the freezer but in the last couple years i quit keeping that many and havent been able to go, but when i do i only keep 5-10 fish. This is first time i can rem. we didnt have any thing but store bought Tilipia but a good friend gave us some last week.
I usually eat 6 Mississippi filets a week, and have a fish fry one a year at the veterans home. So I would say 500.
24 bags with 20 pieces in the freezer . 120 crappie will carry us a full yr. we eat them twice a month and two fish fries for whole family when the boys come home . we also eat bream/catfish about the same . don't want fish in my freezer 3-5 yrs. old .I know you can but why ?
It makes my day to see a big ole smile on someone's face when you give them a bag or 2 of filets. I took 9 bags to my office last week to give to the field crews n then my best client asked if I could get him a couple bags of fresh filets. I was more than happy to get him a couple bags. Good relations right there. I spect in the last month I've given 15 or so bags to folks.
Ill say I can go through 3-4 thousand fish in a years time. When I fish 3-4 times a week we eat fish 3-4 times a week. We usually cook for 8-12 everytime. So it takes alot
i dont need 3 or 4 thousand about 200 will do me just fine
I am bout like G and the fry at church is getting close.
I usually give about half away to people who can't fish or need them etc. but the size of those fish aint no big 4 slabs that's for sure
I don't cook fish very often at home, we usually cook them about once a month at our mancave dinners. I often give fillets to my customers and also to some older folks.
I used to keep several packs in the freezer for my brother to steal, but he's gotten to where he can't drive that far very often. Now, if I'm fishing with someone, they want them all except 3-5(depending on size), they can take them. If not, and I have someone to give them to, I do. Otherwise, it's catch and release..all, except those 3-5, that is...
I cant put a number on it but my wifes family had three big get togethers each year and me and one of her cousins usually supply the fish so thats 4 or 5 gallons there, then as Feesh said we give some to mancave meetings also and I have 4 people in the house that love them, any way you cook em, and I get alot of work in this town by giving people fillets all the time, if I am doing work for someone and they tell me they like fish, I usually give them a quart or 2 bags.
I usually give over half of mine away. I am not a big fish eater, but my family loves it. We eat fish about 2 times a month. We generally cook fish when my mom comes to visit, she loves crappie. I give most to my brother, mom, in laws. I give a few to some old timers that love them but don't fish a whole lot. Every year about this time I take all the ones I have left in the freezer from last year (8-10 bags that will feed 3) and take them to the office and give to coworkers. That way I have an excuse to go fishing in the spring. I tell my wife we are out if crappie so she tells me go catch some more. A win win in my book!
I don't really have a definite number... Dropped off a hundred filets at Strike King a month ago.. We usually have 3 big fish fries a year on top of eating some 3-4 times a month.. Guess it all depends on how many people ask me for some during the year.. I don't mind giving them away to someone who wants them...
My goal is about 200. Whether I get there or not is anybody's guess!I do have a couple fish fries a year and do include slimers, green carp and breams into that equasion!I usually grill the green carp for myself and usually like one about 5 lbs marinated with terayaki sauce and grilled!
I eat a lot of fish. Whether it be crappie or bream, we have a bunch. I usually bring filets to my parents, cook for myself and friends, and give some away to friends that don't get a chance to crappie fish. I usually have between 4 and 20 vac sealed packs of filets. never really over 120 fillets at a time. Ive never thougth to keep up with it... May try and keep up with it a little bit this year.
Maybe 150, only cook 4 filets at a time for the wife and I, give my brothers and grandad a bag or two a piece, and bring 20 for our yearly fish fry tailgate at Ole Miss.
Last year I put away 400 filets and we ate them all plus the couple of batches I cooked fresh. The ball and chain loves crappie any way I can think to cook it. Plus most of the time I'm feeding 8 people if they find out daddy is cooking fish
