OK guys, Arkansas has made a forum that is for specific fishing info only, and has to be moderator approved
before being posted.
I believe it can only be looked at if you are a member for 25 days and have 25 posts, etc.
If ya'll want one on Fl forum I guess ya got to see Slab and Flycaster to set it up, etc, etc ......

I would also stipulate that the 25 posts would be fishing related post, not just "good catch/nice catch, etc.
Would have to be about one of their fishing trips, etc, etc, etc ....

I think it would be cool to have and Instant Messenger program on here. Just like the ones on MSN, Yahoo and AOL. Just add who you want on the list and talk with someone instantly. When you log into Crappie.com, you could instantly see any of your friends on your friends list that are also on line (on CdC) at that time All conversations would be private and you can add others to the conversation if you wish to do so. Nothing then would be posted for anyone else to see. PM's do the same thing but it just takes longer for the intended party to respond. The IM's would just pop up in the corner of the screen and you could answer them without interupting whatever else you are looking at on the computer at that time....Just a thought:twocents

Lee, I think you are right, it's just a "click" thing more than anything else................
Some of us on here have known/fished together for years, and thus, have a propensity
to hang together more so than open forum type communicating.
It's sure not going to kill anybody if it doesn't happen, more a want than need .......
And , as has been suggested, we certainly could go somewhere else and start our own private forum,
but, it's just something about Crappie dot com, we come here with fishing on our minds and thus,
we meet here, etc. This is the place we would like to have a private forum of our own just cause
this is our home etc, etc.
But, it was just a thought by a few of us that thought it'd be a cool thing, however, it really isn't
that big a deal if the powers that be don't care for it, etc, etc, etc ........
It all started out hating "lurkers", and progressed to that .........
Lee, not trying to be rude but the reason for a starting a "fishing report forum" is so fisherman like yourself will be encouraged to join the site or participate more which would help everyone out. You have been a member for over a year and only have 16 posts. You admitted frequently visiting the site to look at reports, yet you do not post your own reports or give advice. Other state boards have this type of forum and it is a great tool. If you do not want to participate in the forum then you could still post a report on the main page. The benefit is that it gives members who do not wish to share their reports with the general public a place to post to help out the members who are their friends.
I do not see the problem! This will not change the way things are on other boards, just keep nonmembers from seeing info we want to share with others who help us. This is not gonna stop me from helping anyone on other forums. It will make use more comfortable giving info knowing everyone using google can not get it. I and others have stopped posting reports as, there are alot of people who only go to a certain lake when they see others are catching. Everyone should be able to enjoy the joy and challenge of chasing and finding a pattern fits the given conditions. Unfortunately, most Florida lakes are small like Talquin and it isn't hard to ride till you see boats or a particular boat you know is on the fish. I will help and have helped many who are new to crappie fishing or a particular lake. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and helping others, but not the worldwide web all at once. These forums are about building relationships and learning from each other. Making friends, not having someone peeping in your window unannounced. The hope is to grow this great site and make it and ourselves better. I love all you guys and as always if making a trip to Talquin feel free to PM me for info and all are welcome on my boat with a guarantee to catch fish.
Most of us have commited to respecting and saving our great Florida resources, such as a self imposed 12 inch limit and following state laws. Some reading these posts will come in during a hot bite stay a week and take 400-500 fish home. Sorry, but I want my family to enjoy these resources for many year to come.
I couldn't agree more with crappielimits...and I have withdrawn many of my recent reports for the same reasons stated above. It is nice to be able to share information with those who are also reciprocal in sharing on this site. There's my 2 cents.

Honestly, this is a great site and if it helps people feel more comfortable about posting, all the better. I'm just learning about crappie fishing, so I'm more of a consumer than a contributor at this point. Hopefully as I learn more I can start contributing more as well.
I do not post anything anymore but still meet up with people on here through pm or telephone. I kinda don't see a neeed this is not broken it is a great site the private site that you guys are talking about you said that a minimun of 25 post has to be posted etc, who is to say that they will not post the 25 just to join and do not post anymore. I was in a group like this before and when the people started trying to make it to where it became a click thing or ust for best friends it intimidated alot of people from enjoying themselves for feeling that they were not wanted.

Sorry Ranger I gotta disagree with you on the click thing, at least on CDC. I have made a lot of friends on here that I would not have met if it was not for this site. I don't know of one person here that wouldn't go out of their way to help another member. BUT, to post a hot bite lake, especially a small size lake to the whole world is not a good thing for that lake. I have read and seen to many times a post of bite on lake to fill up for many weeks after. A lake the size of Crescent or Monroe is not to bad. On those lakes you can say north, south, east or west but you still have to know where they are holding at in that area. I'm sure that there are places that members would still keep to them selfs of just tell very few people. So clickish NOT, friends YES. :twocents
The MS board had the first one......some like it...some dont. But all in all.....I think its working pretty good. You can still post on either board.

That's how I am I may post and sometimes may not I have some people on CDC that I have met and am glad that I met them. I have some that I speak to on the phone and pm because of the simple fact like you said when they find out about the bite it is haywire on the lake. I was not saying that it was clicks on here I was saying that I have experienced them in the past. Much love I enjoy this site and the decent people on it
syg,crappielimit & 65pontiac i agree with you 100%.fortunatly (or is it?)I am lucky if i see 1 other speck fisher on my lakes (except bridge).If i started posting my catches,would they come?joking.I could see the problem over there where you guys are with people using your reports to abuse the fishery and reap the benefits of your time and work finding them.I am lucky in that if i see 5-10 boats on my lakes over here it is busy,I have fished over there,leesburg,monroe etc..its like I-4.I guess what i was trying to say previous was i like this site to see what other crappie folks are doing,we dont have many here.I dont blame anyone not wanting to post thier specifics on an open forum.That would be like me saying what we have in our racecars at citrus co.speedway on 1 of the racing forums.Again i like the site,I paid $ to support the site and like 89ranger said "much love"take care all,Lee
I joined up because I was trying to learn something. I understand not giving specifics about your exact spot and there are always going to be people who abuse anything good. But doesn,t the water belong to us all and as fisherman aren't we kind of a brother/sisterhood? I don't care if you all fish in Crescent or Monroe because thats yuor right. The best examole I have is on Crescent two years ago a gentleman and his wife were fishing right out from us and they were tearing them up, we were catching a few . He called us over closer to them , we moved some but not right on top of them, same results. He called us closer and closer till we were right next to them, I respect them for that. That is what fishing is about sharing the info and water with those who enjoy it like we do. One guy actually gave us some of his jigs he was catching them on once. I haven't made it to any of the slab fests you have yet but I want to because you have seemed open and honest on this sight but now we are trying to keep it secret among the chosen few? Just my thoughts. I will continue to share wha tI can with everyone.
It would not be a secret to anyone that regularly submits fishing reports, just to those that read but do not post.
I met one of those folks one morning, he said he reads the forum but doesn't post, etc, etc, etc.......

I agree Danny, when I found this site I joined & started to be a part of it - why should people be able to reap the rewards of mine or
your hard work. I think it would be a good thing & if ya don't like it then go fishing & don't worry about what other people are doing.
I became a good fisherman because I spent the time learning & trying new things, so get your butts out there, spend some money on
fuel & use up some jigs. Get to know the water you are fishing not just what someone tells you & where to go.
Being a part of something means you contribute not just take. :twocents
I may not post all the details on where I catch and what I am doing because of those that don't share info. But I'll tell anything to those that are "active" members either in person, in a PM or a phone call. For instance, even tho I didn't know 65Pontiac that well at the time, he came to Talquin to fish last year and all I really knew about him was from his posts. I tried to give him all the info I could to help him locate fish and it turned out that he eliminated dead water and was catching fish in no time at all. Russ, in turn, did the same for me at Crescent. I am 100% sure that both of us have done that for many members on here and had info passed on to us that wasn't posted on thr forum. No, we don't need all that moderated forum stuff, or IM stuff and its not a "Click" thing. It's called CAFF....Courtesy Among Fellow Fishermen!!! I feel like I have made a good friendship with 65Pontiac by being courteous to him and several others on here. And they have been courteous and kind enough to share info with me even tho we are hundreds of miles away....So if they want to lurk, let 'em lurk....They are the ones missing out on the good stuff!!! well its been a while and it still isnt a sticky so i assume its not gonna happen. There are alot of the state forums that have this and they all use it anf get more views and posts than any sticky that we currently have. We have a sticky for cheese grits, why not this? Several members want it, the ones that dont do not have to partake. If this was forum was created i for one would be willing to give much better fishing reports than i usually do. Oh, and I am not knocking the cheese grits, I LOVE GRITS! I just think that a "members only report forum" would get a few more views and posts than a cheesy grits recipe regardless of how delicious they are, lol.
SYG: I had a request to post that recipe on here after we were served up with some DELICIOUS CHEESE GRITS at one of our events. I want to make sure that everyone that was interested in that recipe has time to copy it for their own files.Quote:
