If you guys are so worried about someone getting something for nothing and being
part of the group - than start your own personal message chat room and go on down
the road. I don't really think Slap ceated this forum just to turn it into secret society.
If i were a sponsor or paying CdC for advertising and showcasing my goods, believe,
i might reconsider costs vs return. Trust me, this is primary reason this CDC company
was created - this is a business as well a learning thing, whereby, it is open to the
public for input and responses.
Thats my take on situation, so be it.
No arguments from me...But "Being part of the group" is the main thing that Slab and the rest of the members would like to accomplish...Along with "input and responses" and not just reading and not sharing....The more in the group, the more info and knowledge shared and the better for the advertisers, and the advertisers are paying the bills....Whether we have a Moderated forum or not, the best reports that I will give will always be on a more personal level...PM, Phone, Email or in person....Nuff outta me :twocents:twocents:twocentsQuote:

I must admit that I chuckled a few times as well. I think we'll get this extra feature at some point, but that is just my 2 cents. AND, I don't think it will change anything about how this site works. Other states have reported it to be successful so I am guessing that a handful of people are misreading how the private forum will work. Sounds like a minor misunderstanding.
If we created this new "Moderated Forum for Florida" it would certainly not be a secret society. The idea is to have a place members can post more detail about their fishing trips without having to worry about sharing it with others that do not participate at all on the site. No chitty chatty threads would be allowed there at all. Each and every thread would have to be approved by a moderator before members could see it. PM is OK for this, and so are phone calls. But over the years I've seen many members not want to post any level of detail about their recent fishing trips for fear that the whole world would tap into their success. Many like to share, but just assume that the good stuff they have to share, the good tips and information gets shared only with site participants, our c.c family. So nothing gets replaced here. Everything stays exactly the same. Only there is an additional forum to share detailed fishing info. It's worked out on some of the other forums well. They are even posting GPS coordinates without fearing the world will show up on those spots. Might be other friendlies there, like crappie.com'ers, but not the world!
So cool, this has been quite a debate here. I'm thinking we need a vote. I'm not going to put one up unless you all want it. That's always how it's been here. Grass roots, and it's not going to change now.

As an outsider I will say this, I did not come to crappie.com to steal anybodies spots or crowd anybody out of anything. I came here to see HOW people caught crappies around the country, and do some minor chatting about it. That has been invaluable to my crappie fishing here in Minnesota.
You already have multiple addressees in PMs, plus the options to see who is online, and even to get instant popups when you get a personal message, as well as Email notification when you are not logged in. It seems to me that pretty much everything that is being asking for in the restricted forums is already there and that without having to wait for a moderator's ok before putting it up or requiring a moderator at all in the first place. You can even limit those who you allow to PM you.
It seems to me that a member can do all the sharing he wants privately already.

For what its worth, you have just explained my feelings exactly. And who would be this worthy moderator be that would have to sit and monetor posts 24-7.Everybody i know wants to be out fishing. I mean post your pictures you don't have to say where yu were. Somebody wants to know ,let ,then them pm you.Then u can decide how much or how little to tell.
I will say that I'm looking for the entire state of VIRGINIA to be at Monroe and Crescent next winter. LOL

There will not be a mod 24/7......It will be the mods you have now and they will approve these post whenever they have a chance....It could even be up to 24 hrs. in some cases before your post would get on there.Quote:
