Kids Tourney

Need to know if there would be any interest in a cranking tourney center around the kids.

Thinking about last weekend in July, 28th. Have a couple different age group, maybe 10 and under and 11-17. The younger group getting more help from the grown ups and old group doing it mostly themselves. No entry fees, just a fun day on the water, weigh-in and a pinic to follow.

To put it together will take some effort and we have Slabs blessing to use the Crappie.com name to promote it. Just need to know if we have enuff interest to get it in the works, if so we can choose a lake and line up the facilities and all. Am thinking either Sardis or Enid, either lake the kids will cath alot of fish and have a good time.

What time is the weigh in? Bwahahahahaha.

I'll be there if there's any way possible.

Hey WB aint you got a GPS to find those weigh in locations? lol I think they come with a digital clock read out as well. Hahahahahaha, I think this story will continue to carry on for a long time coming, tough luck though, bet those kids were psyched about those big fish, I know I would have been.

This tourny for kids sounds like a good step in the right direction.

I say the heck with the money side of the fj. Maybe presale tshrits and hats if money needs to be raised for permits etc.

I want the FJs to continue as they are and include kids in them as well but thought this would be an awesome way to get even some little ones on the water with us. Can you see Gator's young en holding a 2 pounder to have her pic made, this is seperate but after this weekend there was such a cry out for the kids that I thought it would be good to focus on them and them alone, could become an annual deal if the interest is there. Looking for 20 boats to commit and I will put it together.

Looking hard at July 28th, the FJ tourney is the 21st on Sardis. MCC will be done in June so no conflict there and hope we can get some of those guys with kids to fesh with us.

To, by commit I do understand that things come up and all, just looking to see the interest level.

I think the girls would love it... You know we don't have anything for August... Just saying.

Can you not do the last weekend in July, those weekends in Aug alot of folks seem to hit the road before school starts. Not rock solid on the date so lets see what works. Our Championship maybe in August, might could do this in August and then the Championship in September but that decision is not mine for sure, just a thought.

I didnt know how old she was but knew she was pushing it some, hope we can get it together.

I'm pretty sure we would be there and will help anyway we can as long as it's not the weekends of the 4th or the weekend after. I'll be on a much needed vacation. :cheers2

Fun day fishing with the kids. No crazy rules. We can leave the boat during trip. Short day, 4 hours. End in early afternoon for lunch.

(All fish can be winners, not just crappie.)

Kinda my thoughts, would like to stay with a crappie theme but have a "trash" fish prize as well.
thinking the younger one could be crank pulling, pretty easy for them to handle that and the older ones fish however they want with a little more restriction on how much help the adults can give.
Got a buddy that rents those slides and bouncey thing, gonna talk to him about that as well for the kids to play in and on that afternoon.

Can I bring Secret Weapon? He's my youngest kid!!!:biggrin Just kidding of course. That would be a great thing to do for the young uns!!!

I agree with this, especially the short day. Mine is 8 and he starts getting bored after bout 4 hrs, plus it's going to be ungodly hot that time of year and make them even fussier. But if they could leave the boat, they could go for a quick swim.

Amen, they are the future as well.

I would just like to say that let's remember there are kids around. No foul mouths .... I took my two kids to the Friday night dinner and some people used some really bad language in front of my 5 year old. Lots of the "n" word. NOT COOL. we (we my wife and I) were not happy. Enough said.

Spot on, dont care for it when it is just the guys but it really rubs me wrong when the wife and kids are around. No need for it.

When I did Relay for Life last year, I had a "family fun" theme...I have a large gazebo n lots of games, coloring books, art stuff ect, n I had the older kids do face painting n nail art, n we also did a homemade slip n slide....since I have all of these items in my possession, wld be real easy to provide...maybe a lunch cookout after the tourney as well...just throwing out some ideas....Attachment 91267

We are on the same page lady, fish from 7 till 11 or 12 and find an area with a pavillion and some good shade and have a ball. I havent heard much about lake preference but am leaning toward Sardis, plenty of fish to be caught and the younger ones cranking will have a blast reeling fish in.
