Is it too early or anyone thinking about a spring camp or picnic? I sure enjoyed the picnic at Clinton last year. I do still have my smoker and it needs to be used.

If you are cooking I'll do my best to be there! Especially if your wife is going to be there! I need her to re-expalin how to make the potatoes to me, I tried to make them and they didn't come out even close to hers! I really jacked something up?

I like the idea, good food and friends. I hear the BBQ Bruce fixes is to died for, to my best to be there. An do I hear fishing might included, maybe an inexpensive tournment.

Is this like the Spring Camp they have in Missouri at Truman I've been reading about? I would like to know more about it? Usually at Clinton?
Do not know about Missouri's camp but the last couple of years spring camp has been at a lake out west. Glenn Elder I think. Last year we had a one day picnic at Clinton. We fished all day and then had hamburgers and hot dogs afterwoods. If we could have a camp at Clinton that would last two or three days I would bring my smoker for some real bb-q. Can't do it with only a one day deal though.

Back to the top.Maybe we all should post the when and where we would like.With terrybassboat doing the BBQ and that's where it has been Clinton sounds good to me.The when for me, any time after mid march.I up for a weekend camp.

FYI- from experience. If you all want to do this, 1 person needs to step up and take charge, set a date, reserve your shelter, etc. Kinda like if you build it they will come sort of deal. If you just keep it going like this nothing will happen. I have see it happen time and time again on this board over the past 10 yrs I have been on here.
I know I have done it in the past, but just can this year. Sorry guys as i have gotten some PM's but I am no help. I have fishing 2 tournament trail/clubs this year so 2 tournaments a month already means I hafta spend the rest of the time home with the family.
Good luck and whatever you do don't let huntcapn be in charge or you might end up fishing in a mud hole over in Gardner.
But...It would be a 'nice' mudhole:biggrin

What if we do it May 5th and 6th?The Kansas crappie trail tourney is the 6th at Clinton.That could make for a really good turnout.Spring camp at Truman is also that week.A weekend camp would be great.

Would Melvern be a possibility. It is closer to the folks in Wichita area and not to far from Topeka and KC just a thought. If you want I might be talked into setting it up at Melvern hit me up.

hey have to have more input. Is Melvern a good location for this? I really do not mind doing this but have seen a lot of negative stuff on this sight, I just do not want to get into that, I will get it done if that is what is wanted let me know. I vote Melvern.....but, if it's a weekend my baseball team is in a tourney,( I coach 13 and 14 yr olds)... I won't be able to attend....otherwise I'll be there and help you organize......is the date set yet?
Don't set it for me....but the May 4-6 weekend is out for me....weekend before is good.....weekend after is good
June 3rd is the date for tourny on Melvern.
Any date and lake will work for me. But Clinton is the only lake I would be able to bring my smoker too. I only live a couple miles from Clinton boat ramp. All other lakes would be hard for me to pull both my boat and smoker. I am in wherever it happens.
I guess we will go to Clinton then.. I am open for any dates, but Clinton is to far for me to set anything up, I will help as need to anyone that wants to take charge.

I would be willing to help organize something at Melvern Blackdog40. We are normally camped out there almost every weekend so I would certainly be willing to help if you are still interested in doing this at Melvern.
I think Melvern would be a great location for this as it is closer for those down South and West. :cheers2

Clinton works for me, I met some of you last year and hope to see you again this year.
OK......After careful consideration, I've decided to announce that HUNTCAPN' IS NOW OFFICIALLY IN CHARGE OF THE 2012 KANSAS CRAPPIE SPRING FLING!!!!!:biggrin Not wishing to step on anyone's toes, and admitting that I wanted Terry Bassboat's BBQ, I'm naming the Lakesite to be........"drumroll, please"............MELVERN Lake.....:yikes....The dates of the weekend camp are ....May11, 12, and 13:juggle..........I am going to camp there all weekend, and the planned activities are as follows.........Fri. night we will have a steak dinner FEAST:crazy:....Sat. evening we will have a Crappie 'fry'.......Sat. will have a very 'cheap ,' tournament format.....including a big fish pot:dono.........Blackdog will be 2nd in command and he'll be my eyes and ears on the ground:cheers2.....There will be more details to come, soon.....as well as a signup sheet for making sure we have what we need for the meals.....any other arrangements for other meals can be discussed and planned here..i.e. breakfasts, brunches, lunches, etc...but basic details I lined out are no longer negotiablenonono......let's have some fun:bash
