Is there primitive camping at Turkey Point? Are restroom facilities good there?
They are the best at 5 star if your looking for primitive camping. Hot water and in closed bath houses, private rooms. I can put my tent in one of them as they are that big.
looks like Turkey Point campgroun is the centerplace of the Spring Camp
Got the vac. time put in.Look forward to meeting you all.
Wheels....all of your offers are noted and very much appreciated.....just because I haven't responded directly to you should not be a worry at this time.....as the event draws closer I will have put together a complete list of necessities for the 2 previously mentioned meals, and everyone can sign up for what they wish to be responsible for....that way we will know all is covered....thanks again....would rather keep your support on this endeavor
Wheels70, I am thinking on pulling my 5th wheel down to Melvern and stay at the camp. I have not stayed there so need to scope it out sometime. Its a bit early to get the nuts and bolt planning done, huntcapn will put that together (I THINK). A man in charge.
Just found out my niece is graduating from K-State on May 12. I will not be able to attended. Rats.
I had a lot of fun last year at Clinton. I'll be going out of town on Sunday the 13th, but I'll try to stop by the camp either the 11th or 12th. Thanks for taking charge of this, huntcapn.
I probably do the one day thing also. I have a flyfishing trip to the Mined Land area the weekend before Memorial Day. 2 camping trips in a month is to much for me.
Let's start a 'general' head count for who believes they are attending, or are going to 'try' attending the 'Spring Get together' at Melvern Lake....May 11th thru 13th?:yikes Got me some 'serious' plannin' to dobanghead
me
Be there friday night or sat morn.
I'll try to be there all three days.
I'm planning on being there barring any really adverse weather or lake conditions.
If everything goes right I will be there. Should be fun!
I will see what is going on then at my house. Always something going on with the kids it seems, but would really like to come out and meet everyone this year. Sound like a great time.
I think I might come, I've never fished Melvern. Good Lake? I from Central Kansas, north of Salina, most of you from the eastern part of the state?
count me in for friday night and saturday.
Ttt <*)}}}><
Here are my ideas for the Fri night and Sat night community meals for the Melvern Spring get together.......Fri night will be Steak nite.....bring your own steak......I'll bring charcoal, and potatoes for baking in the hot coals.......we'll need volunteers for Salad(s).....butter and sour cream........paper products..ie...napkins, plastic forks and spoons, aluminum foil for 'spuds'......condiments...salt, pepper, spices.....(I'll bring some steak knives)...................................Saturday nite will be a fish fry......I will have one fryer there and oil...somebody else should bring another with oil.........we'll need potatoes for frying......butter, salt, pepper, fish seasoning, applesause, and dessert.....paper goods (hopefully whoever brings for fri nite will bring plenty for both meals.........someone needs to bring trash bags...........be responsible for your own drinks.......I figure all will have coolers and ice.........don't know how to post check off list so ...start responding....I'll bring fish seasoning(two kinds).........there you go...dive in.........p.s. we will need fish you guys want to plan on bringing? or make sure we catch 'em...I'm thinkin a lil' of both......'I know I can catch 'em, but I'm a bit worried 'bout some of you"....:yikes
Put me down for paper plates, napkins, forks and spoons, aluminum foil.Sum sort of side dish for Sat. night. It will be my wife and daughter and myself attending.
Thanks Kingfish....appreciate it:highfive.......if it's ok with everyone I'd like to keep the responses on a 'positive' note on this thread from here on outnonono.......thank you.......again, everyone...volunteer as you see fit to bring meal items I posted a couple of responses back.....:biggrin
Yep it's time to get this thing going..I'll bring some type of pasta or other salad for friday and baked beans for the fish fry and some frozen fish if we need them and I'll bring some kick butt brownies( no not the "magic" kind) for a desert. HC let me know what else you need and I'll be glad to help in any way I can. Really if everyone just brings a side dish and a desert (like when you go to a family reunion) for each day that should be plenty of food and easy on everyone....just my 2 cents.
let's make sure we get all the lil extras covered first....if everyone brings side dishes, might be a bit overweighted on thosebanghead...thanks for help 'slabby' stay in line though or I'll have to do some reprimanding on you:dono
You might want to send Slab a PM on this CDC gathering. He does try to make it to them if he has a chance. If you want me to invite him, I will. Just let me know. I am sorry but I wont be able to come due to a KWA Tournament. Have fun>>>
Thanks for offering to invite Slab.....absolutely go ahead and do that if you don't mind......matter of fact invite anyone you wish....thanks Shane...good luck in your tournament
I would really like to come to this, I am from Manhattan so its a bit of a drive but I'd do anything to get some fishing in. However, is it possible there are any extra seats on a boat? I doubt my little pelican could navigate Melvern properly. I would be more than willing to pitch in for fuel/bait.
Come on down there is a seat waiting for you in my boat. PM me if you have any questions.
Thanks for offering the seat , Ron..........to anyone else hesitant to come because of lack of a boat, just let us know here.....I'm sure there will be several seats available........this is a great way to make new fishing friends
My daughter is in a softball tourney that weekend but I might try to slip down there at some point.
I got a open seat in a 17ft bass tracker. I Never been on that lake before though.
I just found out I have 3 graduations that weekend: Friday KSU, Saturday KSU and Sunday a High School graduation. Was looking forward to meeting some of you. Maybe next year. Have fun!
I'll need a boat seat also, please. Just have an inflatable kayak. Thank you.

Spoke with Huntcapn, see what is needed towards the date of the camp.
Forgot to mention, if someone tells me what to bring I can grab it. I can't cook for crap, but would be willing to buy some side dishes or food, whatever is needed.
Let me know!
