Hey golfpro, what kind of tm do you have?
That's a motorguide 54 lb 12 volt foot controlled with 360' gator flex mount.....great tm...got if off ebay brand new saved about $125.00!!!!
How do you slow it down enough to slow troll with it? I have a 40lb model and on my jonboat and 1.2-1.3 mph is as slow as i can make it go.
I really don't long line troll...I mainly spider rig and just "bump around" with my speed set on #1 and use the momentary switch on the foot control. I just got my gps back and I do need to see what my speed will be on #1 ...clam day ...calm water...I bet it would be to fast as well...we"ll see... you could slow yourself down with a small drift sock, but i bet that would flat kill your battery in short order. I use a drift sock in the wind to keep from going too fast and man does it work!!!! You only hope that the wind is blowing in the direction you want to go due to the boat being "less than responsive" trying to change course fighting the drift sock drag!!!! I know that I pilots are the weapon of choice....but I wasn't about to drop a grand on a trolling motor!!!!
My 1994 Ranger 374v with 175hp Mercury XRI. I got a lot of Lake Oconee miles on this one. Picture was taken after I bought her back in April 2011. Now has Driftmaster spider rigging rod holder setup in the bow. Thought about mounting clamp on rod holders to those round bars on the sides for longlining. All I need now is a MK I pilot trolling motor. Mine came with a 30lb Motorguide. Moves boat pretty well for a small motor. May be overkill as a crappie boat but I got a great deal on it and she rides great, easy to manuever, takes wind well and makes quick work of getting to one place to the other. If you see this one on Oconee stop and say hello.

I may try a drift sock. Thanks for the reply.
I am new to crappie fishing and cant spend that more for a tm than my whole rig is worth. So far adding lead to my longlines and fishing way back has worked for me. But i know that sooner or later i will need to run slower than 1.2mph to catch fish. Again thanks your reply was very helpful.
Thats a great looking boat Gabowman. Looks like its in real good shape too. If i ever decide to get a true "lake" boat, this is about what I will be looking for.... Right now I fish out of a Grumman 1649 that I also use in the river during the spring/summer but it does not like the wind very well nor the waves from other boats. But I do catch fish and thats all that matters...
Smitty - Good to see you posting again. I'm waiting to see Earl's "Red Caddilac". Keep'em coming boys. Where are some sticksteers?
Looking good Smitty!!!!!!
Smitty, them two jokers standing beside you really do make you look good! LOL. Andy, I do not know how to post pics.
Here Let me help you out Earl, I knew I had a pic of your boat, I just had to find it. Attachment 78504
Thanks Tony. That is (was) my secret weapon!
Hadn't got the rod holders on it when I took this pic. Have driftmaster crowfoot for the front and 3/4 outdoor plywood with two driftmasters on the back. That is a 225 Vmax on the back.

Thanks, it is a 2009 Ranger Angler 1760.
I sure hate to follow behind Earl's Ranger but my SeaArk has been a good one for me. Its a Forecast 170.http://www.crappie.com/crappie/attac...11210-1208.jpghttp://www.crappie.com/crappie/attac...11210-1209.jpghttp://www.crappie.com/crappie/attac...11210-1209.jpg

Mine's a shabby ol Bass Tracker , but it will catch a fish.
I caught just as many or more out of my two Bass Trackers as I have out of the Ranger. Fishing is not about the boat. It is all about being on the water and making memories along with friends or family. I never even dreamed of owning a boat as nice as the Ranger.
I caught more fish from the turd bucket than any boat in my life...
Well, I am down to one boat (Pontoon Sold) and if ya see anybody dat needs a trained boat, let me know.
Attachment 78943Attachment 78944
Amen to that. It's not the boat but the guy on the other end of the rod that makes the difference.
Smitty, turd bucket was as good as any OLD YARD DOG great memories.
Man, you Georgia boys sure do have some real nice crappie boats. Always enjoy looking at people's setups. Thx!
This is what works for me.
thespiderman - you may be a guppy on these boards but with all of those rods you are definitely a BIG FISH. Nice setup. Where is your home lake?
