Naa...that kinda hunt wouldnt interest me.
I have been on one of those hunts. It is a blast. Hunt in the morning then, bring the bring the dogs out for the afternoon hunt. It is not as easy as it looks for one, and it gives you a chance to go bird hunting. I would rather buy my birds like this than in the super market.
No thanks. Not much hunting involved.
That's not hunting! All that is,is shooting birds. That would be a pheasant shoot....not hunt.
I'm out!
It’s a Pheasant Shoot not a Pheasant Hunt, NO hunting involved.
:deadhorse
done one on a spot north of Spfd.It was ok,just not much sport, and it was where they placed them in the field 1/2 hr b-4 you got to hunt and then they had pointers work the birds but it was to easy.
I don't hunt, but I did that as a kid at ShowBiz Pizza .. Attachment 77479
Haha, I figured it'd go over like a lead balloon, I just like to kill and eat animals, don't really matter how I come by em!
To each their own but that would be like fishin in an aquarium......
or shooting deer inside a pen
I guess that’s the difference, I like to hunt! Now I’m by no means a tree huggin hippie PETA member and understand we have to kill animals to survive but I would have no enjoyment from walking up to a cow or any other animal that was tied to a tree and shooting it. I would do it to survive. On the other hand I do get enjoyment out of sitting in a tree stand hunting for deer to eat. It’s about the hunt and harvest of an animal not the KILL. I had to shot a deer once that had been hit by a car and it was no fun at all. Guess I’m weird that way????
Josh, Scott sure had a serious look on his face. Its what you want to make out of it. If you want to eat pheasent or get one mounted and you live in the Bootheel, this may be you best and cheapest bet. Still has to be fun.
Why mess up the meat with the pellets? Just wring their neck, pluck, cook, and enjoy the company of others.
What kcbrown said! You could always shoot starlings or pigeons!
Hey guys...if it's legal to each his own I guess. No need bashing somebody for doing a legal act...whether you approve or not. I simply stated it was not for me, but for some maybe this is as close to hunting as it gets. Let's not judge or bash anyone here.:popcorn
Not Bashing just agreeing with kc! :p
I spend a lot of time sittin in a tree, field, woods, blinds, whatever hunting everything available where I live, I don't fish from aquariums nor would I derive any pleasure from shooting something tied to a tree or in a pen, I shot around 60% and I hunt a lot, they were tough to hit, yall are right its not hunting, but any way ya cut it it's more sporting than buying chicken!
Guess we better watchout and not hook the stocked ones? lightn up fellas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am curious if any of those birds don't fly and just fall straight down?
kk as long as you had a good time, that's all that counts! But it sounds like we can't call you Deadeye!!! rotfl
Plenty of guys don't have land available, and do the same thing with quail also. For a guy with a dog that he wants to get some work in, it's great. Expensive clays, that you can eat is what they are. Still have to aim the gun.
thats right, i dont care if its a bird that you tucked his head under his wing and then go hunt him up or if its a wild covey of quail, the shooter still has to put the bead where it's supposed to be when you pull that trigger. I have dont it plenty of times with chucker mostly, and we never kill them all when we set them out, i like it that way sometimes cause i cant ever seem to find birds and this way i know i will find a few ;)
Ha, deadeye i was not! Only one of 120 coasted straight down, they fly high and hard for the most part, the most non-sporting part was that when they landed, regardless if they were hit or not, they sat still, the dogs ran down a few that I don't think were hit, but a lot of em flew out of sight or in the woods.
Thats not even hunting just shooting......
I still say what ever trips your trigger, BUT if I had a chance to take my Dad to shoot birds like that I'd do it in a minute and I think some of you guys need to lay off until you think what it would be like to have your dad with you to be able to shoot birds like that. Think about what if your dad was'nt there.
^^^"ditto what Monk said"^^^
I'm not really seeing any bashing goin on when you put a up a thread like this then you have to expect folks to voice their opinion.....some agree some disagree thats everyones right.
:cheers2Anyone ever had "Clay Pigeon Under Glass" ? LOL:cheers2
I wouldn't do it personally, as i like to watch the dogs work and point. But it looks like it'd be a good way to get a kid to learn how to lead 'em. With the limited number of birds nowadays a kid could get more shots in a day than he would get in three seasons. Don't care what they say, the real deal is different than a clay pigeons. Get the feel and then hunt the real thing.
And yes, it's just an opinion.
Sportsman my foot.. That is absolutely rediculous. Images like this give outdoorsman a bad reputation.
Great way to train young dogs, good for people that cant get out and walk. just because it's not for you lets not bash it.
that would be like crappie fisherman bashing bass, cat, and pike fisherman. we as sportsman should not do it.
I knew what I was gettin into puttin it up, I don't feel bashed, it's good to have a lively thread with some strong opinions, once again this was something I got to do for free and had not done before, wouldnt pay for it cuz I'm not rich, but if I get another free pass I'll take pops back over and let him bust some more!
Great attitude KK thats the way things like this should be and not so many folks gettin bent outa shape for no reason....for the record i meant nothing about the aquarium thing i was just making a point, the main reason i won't trout fish is because they're stocked and it just don't feel natural to me.
Not very sporting. Why not just throw chickens up in the air and "kill" them?
I've harvested a lot of birds in my time and I've enjoyed every one of them. This wouldn't interest me in the least.
I like how most of the "hunters" were wearing camo. Heck, you coulda sat in a lawn chair with a radio blaring in the open field and shot just as many as they did! Where are birds thrown from a tower gonna go when they are surrounded by "hunters"? Not bashing, everybody has the right to do as they please as long as it is within the law. You just might not want to use the word "hunt" in your title next time.
That's exactly what I experienced one year where where some very affluent folks in our hunting group had bought a bunch of pen raised pheasants knowing it was going to be slim hunting on wild birds that season. We hunted a day and a half on the wild birds and then they proceeded to take the pen raised birds out throwing them in the air and blowing the he!! out of them with great delight for them. I was not participating since I hadn't contributed towards the purchase of the birds. I was hunting with a very good old over the hill brittany and a young green brittany and several of the others had their dogs of various ages out there. I suggested that why didn't they plant those birds and at least get some dog work in and fortunately the other dog owners also thought that would be a good idea and that's what was done. To say the least for me it turned out being a very delightful day watching my young pup get weeks of very good experience compressed during that one sashay through the field that afternoon.
