They just blowed the levee at Birds Point, MO!!!
Remember when they blew a levy a Lakeveiw in the 70's and didn't let anyone kow at the ramp. Several came in to find their vehicles with water in em.
I aint too smart, but in the large scheme of things I just dont see it helping that much just putting some other land in the flooding.
The one benefit of flooding that farm land is bringing nutrients back into the land. That's why it's so fertile is from past flooding
You are right there DD, gonna get bad for sure.
I called my family and made an evacuation plan. If it does happen we have about 8 hours to get out of the Delta. We plan to head east and ride it out.
3 - 5 ' of sand over 130,000 acres though? My physics hasn't been awake long enough yet...I can't fathom that yet. ;)
The farmers will be compinsated you can bet.
Just think, isn't that about 100,00 acres larger than the Rez? Now, that would be a sandbar. Just a thought, maybe the farmers could get Gov assistance and sell the sand too, make out like a bandit.
You bet
I'm with torch, gonna make plans just in case... That is a lot of water and not much space between it and my house...
This is going to be epic, no matter what. I've heard through the grapevine that there's a new prediction out that the river will top the levee at Greenville by 1 foot, that has not been made public yet. If that's true, there will be a breach. It's just a question of where and which side of the river.
Wannabe...
Just an FYI for all you Delta rats, stay offamah lake iffen you coming this way. Pffft.
Wannabe...
But I had always heard that the arkansas side is either a little lower or more likely to break(can't remember which), thats why there's always a group tryin to blow the levee every time the water starts gettin on up there
Somebody send a PM to Creek then and tell him to see if his waders leak.

In the flood of 93 the levy failed along the MO river and thousands of acres were flooded! Drove the pontoon right down the highway. Only way u could tell where the road was .... Was to follow the utility poles! After it receeded only some was covered with too much sand to farm. Those folks pushed the sand up in piles and sold it. 95% of the land is better than before! We had to drive 63 miles around to get to the neighboring town that was 12 miles away!!! Factory workers kept boats on one side and boated to town. Left a car on each side so they didn't have to go the long way!
Just whent down to bass landing and man the water is coming up !!!

Yeah, speck it will be over by morning.
I live outside of Marion, Ar in the county. There was an article in our paper last friday by the CEO of the St. Francis Levee District. He said the levee was built to protect the Delta and Crittenden Co. Arkansas from water up to 58 feet above flood stage. I sure hope he is right. I can walk out my front door, look due East and see the levee.:(
