HDS ALL units - 4.0 software version and demonstration files download page | Lowrance
For the guys running the HDS 7 will be able to run 3 screen panels now, instead of 2 with this new software update.

Does this fix the sirius disable problem? When I try to disable sirius (blue dot in advanced mode) the unit reboots. Didn't see this fix and the "initalizing sirius window is really irritating me.Quote:

I have a new hds 5 lake insight and getting ready to hook it all up here this week and turn the unit on. Question is what card should I run in there to record the factory settings and get another card for the new update. This gps is a whole new world to me. I have had the unit for almost a month but with all the flooding we have had I havent been in a hurry to get it on the boat. Thanks
2 gig sd card up to 32 gig sd card. But once you update your unit, I would delete the software update off your sd card.
thank you , Jason for making the announcement. i have been watching for the update for several weeks. i am a new owner of the hds 7 with structure scan and have had a lot of problems with fish symbols. problem is they are tooo small, but in addition to that i cannot get my unit to show many and i live on the harris chain of lakes in fl. have had many conversations with your customer service. stand by-- i may need you yet this week.

Which card would you recomend like a 2 gb or 8 or 16 or 32 gb to store the factory settings on this card will have the factory settings and only factory settings to go into my paper files. On the 4.0 I was wondering also which card to use and after it is installed I will delete the card and use it to record other things for fishing. Bare with me I am a green horn with this stuff. Take look at my first post and click on the 2nd link with PDF. that will give you what change in 4.0 with all hds units.
I am downloading 4.0 now. It is a big file. 332Mb. I will install and try it out tomorrow if my boat will float. I believe it may be stuck to the boat lift from sitting so long...ha

Ouch. That sucks. It'll get better though. Truman lake here in MO is usually up by at least 10-20 feet by now, but for some reason we've been hovering around 4-5. Wierd, am using a 2 gig card, have D/L'd the update twice and ran it to the drive with the SD card 4 different times. Every time I get the same error which is...
"Error 2349.Copy resumed with different info. With the options keys to Abort, Retry, and lgnore. Retry does nothing other than bring up same box again. Abort kills the entire D/L, and Ignore brings the following.....
"Error 1304.Error writing to the file
J:\Sims\Demo\Script\Saltwater.txt.
Verify that you have access to that directory.
Retry and Cancel are the options I have. Retry does nothing and Cancel undoes everything up to that point.
In laymans terms, I cannot get the Update to the SD card unless it's in unopened form. If it's in unopened form, the 8 will not recognize it and install.
Any ideas?

i think i have been successful getting it to the SD card, but when i put it in the HDS unit and then power it on I dont see anything going on. I left it in there for several minutes then took it out and re booted the unit then, go check the software part in the unit and iot still shows the old version. I have wiped the SD card 3 times and went thru the whole procees 3 times now and dont seem to be downloading on the HDS unit. Has anyone been successful with getting 4.0 loaded on the HDS yet? Did you get the Icon (blue with a 1/4 white moon) your computer? If so, click on this Icon. This is the installer program that puts the update on your sd card. When this installer programs starts to run, it will ask you where you want to install the update. Use browse and set your sd drive letter, then click copy. Probably have to click copy again if windows defender jumps up.
As the update installs on the unit, the progress is shown on the HDS screen. When finished, remove the sd card first, then push the power button. This will restart the unit and it does not power down when you do this operation, but restarts the HDS.
Did you download the update from the website directly to your SD card ?If so that is your problem.
i clicked the run program not the save. It goes thru the 252 MB takes about 25 minutes then walks you thru install wizard, then says sucessfully loaded on SD card. I then take the card put in the HDS5 and nothing happens. I have now done this 4 times and after every time i have formatted the sd card to clear the files, and start the download again.
dont get any errors or anything. Dont know if i am doing something wrong, or the SD card isnt getting something, or if the HDS unit isnt downloading for some reason.
I did the upgrade a little over a year ago and didnt have any problems.
When the file is in your SD card, has it been opened yet? It should show a sims folder, an update folder and something else I think. If it shows these files, then your 5 should pick up on them during startup. If the file has not been opened, it will not pick up on the update.Quote:

I went to a differant computer and a differant card had to do the download from an air card and it took about 10 hours to download, then transfered to the new card and put it in the unit this morning and all is good to go. I guess there was something with the other computer that it didnt like. Dont know why i never got a error.
Good news i now have 4.0 on my HDS 5 and also loaded it on a buddies HDS unit this morning. Now i just need to do my 7 and my 8 that are on the boat.

I tried it on another computer (Vista) and it would not load to SD (but said it was loading sd). My original download was via Windows 7 with no problems. I dunno.Quote:

Just got mine loaded up last night. No problems, but I haven't had time to play with the new stuff yet.
The download went flawless on my card but I was trying to install on the hds 8 first and I was never seeing anything happening. Finally after 3 times, I decided to try it on my hds 7 and it downloaded right to that unit. Hds 8 still hasnt got the download. Came here looking for help. If it works on my 7, I would think it should work on my 8 without changing to another card. Frustrated but happy about 3 screens on my 7. Huge improvement there. :)
Did everything I can think of and retried everything over and over following the instructions to the letter. I had to download the 3.5 version before (Was back when purchased a year ago) and it took to my hds8 as it was suppose to. There seems to be some reason my unit wont take the new download and I would appreciate the fix if anybody knows what it would be. Done working on it for today as it has taken up 4 hours or so with nothing to show for it.
Does it make any diff if u put card in then start hds or do u start hds then insert download card-- which slot do u use?
you need to put the card in, then turn the unit on.

Guys, got this e-mail this morning from Lowrance.
“Due to the high demand for the new HDS 4.0 update, you may experience difficulty downloading the update to your computer. Please try again over the next day or two for a better download experience
after i did the update, my screen started freezing upon start up. where it says "accept" it would not take enter and move on---getting better, but a lot of turning it off and on.
